Full description
Discover the secrets of the most important product in the Mediterranean way of life, olive oil. Explore a small olive oil factory just 20 minutes from Seville and learn about the traditional processes and production of olive oil. Savor a tasting session of this “liquid gold” to round off your experience. After pickup from your accommodation in Seville, take a quick drive through the countryside to reach the factory. This factory aims to make top-quality olive oil using just physical methods, picking the olives by hand. It produces just a few liters every year but it's one of the best olive oils in the world. Before visiting the factory, walk through the orchards where hundreds of olive trees grow slowly waiting for the picking season. There, the owner of the company will explain all the secrets required to care for the trees. Once you know everything about the trees, go into the facilities of the factory with the manager and see all the machines used for the whole process. Discover the traditional way of life in a real hacienda in the Andalusian countryside, an area that has produced olive oil since Roman times, 2000 years ago. After learning about the process, the history, and the traditional methods of production, taste different varieties of olive oil with an appetizer. Also sample the sweet, bitter, and spicy local oil recognized as one of the most appreciated oils in the world. Three hours after arriving at the factory, head back to Seville where you should arrive around 2 PM.

I highly recommend

We booked this activity at the last minute and were not disappointed. Our driver, Patricia, picked us up directly from the hotel and was accompanied by a French student speaking Spanish in case there was a communication problem. On site, our guide spoke perfect French and explained very clearly. We even got to meet the owner, a character in itself! The emphasis is more on the process of making olive oil than on tasting, but we were still made to feel and taste some products at the end. The whole was very instructive, however I would recommend this activity less to those who are not passionate about agrotourism, given the high price.

This tour gives a very interesting insight into the world of olive oil. The tour guide and owner/family member of the estate is both friendly and knows absolutely everything. We saw the trees, saw the old and the new techniques behind producing the oil. The tour ended with a little taste test of olive oil on bread - and on ice cream :-) Would recommend to anyone. We had children (ages 9-10) and they enjoyed the tour as well.

Do not miss

A fascinating place both by the person who receives you who is passionate about it and by the place where part of the olive grove is located. We visit a museum where the whole process to get an extra virgin olive oil is explained to us. We go directly to a field to see the olive trees with the different types of olives and the equipment to harvest. Finally a tasting of different oils with a demonstration of how the oils are tested. Then, a delight: Cadiz cheese with extra virgin oil and an ice cream with chocolate shavings in olive oil flavored with orange. An unforgettable day.
