My husband and I just returned from The White Villages from Seville Tour and what a wonderful day it was! I was torn between Los Arcos de Frontera and Ronda because I really wanted to see both (and none of the tour guides offer this). Our guide David really went the extra mile for us! His extremely flexible and professional manner allowed us to see Los Arcos de Frontera and Ronda in one day, plus several white villages, & other special things unique to the area (like trees made from cork). It was just like having a food tour, too! It made the tour so much fun, since it was like having a food tour, too. As a bonus, he gave us wonderful suggestions for restaurants in Seville and Granada. After 10+ hours we are not tired, but yet dying to do another tour. Thanks, David, for making the tour so personalized for us. It is going to be the highlight of our trip!
First things first: the hike itself is amazing! You get great views of the gorge and its surroundings. Meanwhile phoenix vultures are circling over your head. Be sure to bring enough water en put on sunscreen because it gets very hot! Now, the organization itself leaves quite a bit to be desired. Our tickets were apparently reserved via a local tourist office and apparently these were the "cheap" tickets. This meant we had to wait half an hour to get in. You're just standing there in the scorching heat. Our guide was also late to the pickup point because he was stuck in traffic. Then on the way to Ardales, he says this is typical Seville traffic... Then why not leave your house earlier so you make it in time? Either way: great hike, bad organization. You might be better off driving there yourself if you can get a ticket.
We really enjoyed the hike and it was lovely to get out of the bustling city of Seville for a day. We had the afternoon timeslot so we had the option of stopping at one of the pueblos blancos Serentil or Ronda beforehand. I think the day would have been better spent kayaking and/or swimming in the dam next to the Caminito as it was a hot day and we had already done the pueblos blancos and Ronda tour. The restaurant we stopped at for lunch had fantastic food but note that it's the only option. Sergio, our guide spoke English well and was very informative. Group size was 6 which is much better than the group of 31 that we had with the same company for a different tour.
Absolutely stunning. Highly recommended. Our guide Reyes was fantastic and knew all sorts of fun facts and was good fun. I'd advise taking some swimming stuff as there was a chance to go in the lake after but I could only paddle as I didn't take my costume. Well worth the money and certainly not to be missed. Thanks guys!!
Caminito del Rey is amazing, however definitely not for those who are afraid of heights. It is one of the best things I did during my time in Spain. The tour was excellent. Peter was a great guide and explained all about the region and the walk. I would definitely recommend this tour.
