Top sights in Seville
Seville's preeminent attraction, the Seville Cathedral, is the third-largest church in the world. A sublime specimen of Gothic architecture with a fascinating history, the cathedral is a formidable human achievement that will certainly take your breath away.
The cathedral's famous bell tower, called Giralda, was originally built as a minaret in the late 12th century. The stunning, 105-meter-tall tower is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Capilla Mayor, the cathedral's main chapel, has the longest nave of any cathedral in Spain. Its 42-meter-high ceiling is lavishly decorated in Gothic and Baroque styles.
The Capilla Mayor's retablo, aka altarpiece, is the largest in Christendom. This sublime masterpiece was entirely carved out of wood, depicting 42 scenes from the life of Christ.
In total, the cathedral has 15 doors, each featuring a distinct architectural style and decorated with beautiful, extremely ornate reliefs and carvings.
In this gorgeous monument, Columbus' casket is held aloft by four statues, each representing one of the four kingdoms that comprised Spain during the explorer's life.
Although it's a long climb to the top of the Giralda, it's not an overly difficult one, and those who brave it are rewarded with one of the most spectacular views of the entire city – don't miss out!

What people are saying about Seville Cathedral
The queues at the cathedral were extremely long but I was initially reticent about booking a tour online as I wasn’t sure who to go with or which tour to choose! However I needn’t have worried as our guide was there at the fountain outside the Giralda bell tower about 10 minutes before the allocated meeting time; he was easy to spot as he had an umbrella printed with the company name on it and he was extremely polite, friendly and spoke excellent English. He was also extremely knowledgeable, walked us round the cathedral with another 2 people who were on the tour with us, told us loads of interesting facts and stories, and gave us plenty of time to ask questions and take photos. We never felt rushed at any time and at the end, before he left, he showed us the entrance to the Giralda Tower which is accessed from in the cathedral, which we were then free to go up at our own leisure. We also had time to further explore the cathedral if we wanted to. Would definitely recommend this tour.
Our guide, Jesus, was excellent. So much information. We toured the Alcazar first and had about 25 minutes to visit the gardens on our own (longer would have been appreciated). Jesus then guided us around the cathedral, where our tour ended. We could then visit at our leisure and/or climb the Giralda. There was virtually no queuing (only a few minutes waiting for another tour group to precede us into the cathedral) and our guide was excellent. The organisation was straightforward and efficient.
Wanted to visit Alcazar next day but tickets sold out, didn't realise it was best to book online in advance. You can queue on the day but it can take up to 3 hours to get a ticket. So looked online and found a GYG tour with tickets available that also included the cathedral and Giralda tower so booked that. It was a great tour, our guide was very friendly, informative and made sure we got the best from the tour. Fab afternoon.
Our guide was Lorena and she was fabulous. Very knowledgeable about history and many aspects of the cathedral and Alcazar. She was able to add lots of interesting and quirky details that had us thinking, laughing or at least grinning. She manoeuvred us through to avoid the crowds . As well as the amazing buildings, Lorena made the tour excellent. Thank you
We thought three hours might be too long, but it was great. Well worth booking this tour and skipping the very long queues. Carmen was very informative, and we particularly liked the personal ear pieces given to us to hear her speak. Very effective. All three places are well worth visiting and we would highly recommend this tour.
