Your guide will first take you to Fontaine de Vaucluse, a beautiful village located by the river Sorgue. Walk up to its spring – one of the biggest in Europe. Next, stop at Sénanque Abbey and take as many pictures as you want of this majestic 12th century Abbey which is surrounded by lavender fields. After the photo-stop at the 'belvedere', head off to Gordes, a hilltop village made of local dry stones and enjoy the market (on Tuesdays). Explore the Provencal village of Roussillon, and observe the houses, whose colors vary with the sunlight. The Provencal market on Thursday adds even more colors. This is where you will take your lunch break (not included). After lunch, explore the lavender fields. Fill your body with fresh lavender fragrance, take some pictures and have a look at a distillation operation during harvest.  Your final stop is the village of Sault, in the middle of a bucolic landscape, isolated from civilization. There, enjoy some free time for shopping, taste a lavender ice cream or have a drink on a panoramic terrace.  At the end of the tour, your guide will drive you back to Avignon.

You'll be picked up directly from your hotel in Avignon by private vehicle and transfer (less than 1-hour) to the picturesque village of Gordes, listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. After exploring the stunning medieval streets, your guide will lead you along the walking paths lined with ancient stone walls. On seldom-used trails and through the thyme-laden hills, you will reach the 12th century Sénanque Abbey, completely intact, and a jewel of Romanesque architecture. This tour gave us a very good overview of the beautiful Provence region. The commentary and local knowledge of our guide Nicolas was excellent and helped us to understand the ulture, history and geography of the region. He was extremely helpful and courteous througout. Thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Maxim was fantastic - so flexible, accommodating, and helpful. He allowed us to choose where we wanted to spend the most time. We saw so much in just 9 hours - a great way to experience Provence! An experience not to be missed!

This was a great overview of some very picturesque sites in Provence. It was nice to have some flexibility to spend time where we wanted, to shop, and to get some great information about the local areas.
