We've explored other lava tunnels in the past, but this one was by far the coolest. Lots to explore and the scenery was amazing. We were told of an extreme tour too that went even further into the cave/tunnel, but this was perfect for our two children, ages 8 and 10.

This is a fun and unique activity to see a tunnel left behind by the lava thousands years ago. The guide is friendly and explain things very well. The tour is a bit less than 1 hour. Most of the walk is relatively easy and not very long, not physically demanding. I didn't know inside the cave is rather camp and cold (around 6 degree Celsius) on a relatively warm day (17C) when we visited, so proper clothing is advised. I gave it a 4 star mainly because compare to other activities in Iceland you can do, I find this one more towards the expensive side.

The lava tunnel was very interesting - various colors and types of stone and formations, etc. The guide was quite informative, personable, and humorous. The tour was worth the money. The guide even took everyone's pictures at the end (with their own phone or camera). Dress warmly - it was about 4 degrees Celsius (39 Fahrenheit) inside the tunnel. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars was essentially because of others in our tour. They kept taking pictures instead of keeping up with the group. The guide had told us she'd stop during the walk in 3 times to explain our surroundings, and that on the way back we could leisurely take pictures. Unfortunately she waited for those taking pics on the way in, which was aggravating to those of us who followed instructions.
