Schwerin: 2-Day Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour

3. Schwerin: 2-Day Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour

Red double-decker buses fill the streets of Schwerin from the end of March until New Year's. On this tour, enjoy the opportunity to get off the bus to enjoy shopping, explore different neighborhoods, and visit museums, exhibitions, and attractions. The tickets are valid for two consecutive days, allowing you ample time to complete on your tour of the city. The buses run every 45 minutes from May to September, and every 90 minutes during the off-season. Weather permitting, ride in an open-top double-decker bus (with a closed roof in case of rain) from the White Fleet by Schwerin Palace through the historical old town, the Schelfstadt quarter, and through the Schelfmarkt to the shore of the Pfaffenteich – incidentally one of the ten lakes in the city. Heading across the old market with its town hall and cathedral, continue on to the central station in Paulsstadt and the Feldstadt with the old cemetery, where Rudolph Karstadt and others have found their final resting place. In the castle gardens, take a break from the tour at the historical Schleifmühle and admire this unique museum and the water-powered grinding and sawing of large fieldstones. Then, head along the Schlossgartenallee with its fantastic villas and stop to take photos at the famous view of the fairytale castle. Passing by Burgsee and the 21st Century Garden, gaze from the Rudolph Karstadt house at the Old Garden with its unique building of State Archives, ministries, State Chancellery, State Theater, art gallery, and castle. From there, Lake Schwerin, the third largest inland water in Germany, opens up in front of you.

I can only recommend the tour with the night watchman to everyone. You can see a lot of the old town and the illuminated castle was the absolute highlight for me at the end. In my opinion, the tour is something for young and old, but you should be good on foot. The night watchman (tour guide) passed on a lot of information to us and you could tell that he had a lot of knowledge about what he was telling.

Unfortunately, we didn't have our pre-ordered tickets with us. The lady at the counter was super nice and helped us quickly and easily. The city tour itself was not only interesting, but also very entertaining, as we received a lot of information packed in anecdotes. Thanks very much!

I had a very informative and entertaining tour, with a lot of inside information and background knowledge. I would have missed a lot without this tour, I can only recommend it to every visitor. The time frame and the walking distance are also good for a relaxed tour.

Our guide very engaged, good for a funny saying. We were well informed, encouraged to do a little research ourselves if it didn't go far enough in depth. Was really great :) Schwerin we'll be back and then there's a castle tour

Quick and easy booking via the Internet possible. Very good organization. The group was so large that 2 city guides were used and the group could be divided.
