1. Hamburg: Schanzenviertel Culinary Tour

Explore a district that has emerged as one of the trendiest areas in the city. With an area of 0.60 square kilometers, the Sternschanze is one of the smallest but also most exciting neighborhoods in the whole of Hamburg. Right in the heart of the district is the left-wing autonomous center, the “Rote Flora.” Follow in the footsteps of Carl Hagenbeck and the true “revolutionaries,” and visit the old piano factory. Along the way, stop at some of the local favorites in the area and enjoy the culinary diversity of the district with five different delicacies, as well as hear exciting stories and discover true craftsmanship.

2. Hamburg: Guided Schanzen District Walking Tour

Schanzenviertel has a very unique charm of its own. Some like it a lot, others don’t. After this 2-hour walking tour, you will certainly have enough information to make up your own mind about it. As a very lively urban neighborhood, Schanze is of course changing constantly. Still today, one can still find the original and alternative Hamburg of the 80s and 90s, but gentrification as always has been going on rapidly for quite some time. Over the last 10 to 15 years, more and more young, creative, and financially strong people feel attracted by Schanzenviertel’s milieu. This tour presents both sides, allowing you to get to know a former student and working class neighborhood, and a buzzing nightlife hot-spot caught between gentrification and shopping craziness. Visit the lively Marktstraße in the Karoviertel, lined with alternative shops, bars, and restaurants. The street art is all over the city and offers great photo motifs.  Look into some backyards and see how life works behind the mostly-modern building facades. Here you will also find the controversial "Rote Flora", the autonomous cultural center. The tour ends here. Sunday evening was a nice small group of 6 perosns. Tour was very relaxing with great selection of restaurants and amazing selected food. The best part -we would not went to such places by ourselves, selected food was very good so the tour really gave what was promised. Our tour guide- Isabel was amazing, in addition to fine food we got some historical facts, local insights and some local funny stories. We had really a great time! Would recommend to everyone.

Unfortunately we only know the first name of our companion through the Schanzenviertel - Hannes - but through him we got a comprehensive impression of this quarter. He gave us information easily, with a lot of knowledge and humor and also gave us a feeling for the way people live. It was also great that your hygiene regulations enabled us to conduct the tour in our small group of 4.

The tour was entertaining and very informative. We got to know an unknown part of the city and were told about interesting details. Great gastronomy! And shopping in this district is a good alternative to the stress of shopping in the big department store chains.

Very cool. Tried things that I haven't eaten and probably wouldn't have tried in real. Mix of info and food was perfect

We really enjoyed the tour through the Schanzenviertel! Out guide was friendly and had some great stories to tell!
