Discover the natural beauty and history of Central Bosnia on this guided tour. After getting picked up from your hotel, begin the journey to Jajce. Pass through the Ottoman, Austrian-Hungarian and Yugoslav parts of the city to get an idea of how the city of Sarajevo developed. Upon arrival in Jajce, soak up the rich historical atmosphere of the town and see an array of national monuments. Pay a visit to an underground catacomb where the aristocratic Hrvatnić family are buried before heading back above ground to the citadel, where you can admire panoramic views of the surrounding area. Later, continue to the Jajce Waterfall and marvel at the beauty of this 21-meter high natural phenomena which joins 2 rivers. Pay a visit to the cluster of historical watermills located nearby and even purchase some freshly-milled flour from one of the mills which is still in operation. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to your final stop.  Finally, arrive at the 15th-century Old Town of Travnik. Starting off with a quick introduction with your professional tour guide, you will be taken through an overview of the Islamic religion, including its beginnings and evolution. After meeting with your group and guide, you will begin your 3-part, best of Sarajevo tour. You will begin by admiring the symbols of the Austro-Hungarian rule, hearing the story of the Spite House. You will then move on to discover the heart of the Ottoman rule, Sarajevo’s Bascarsija, before drinking water from the Sebilj Fountain. Moving on, you can pray in one of the four big houses of God in Sarajevo, and find out why people call it a “European Jerusalem”. You will then learn about the local hospitality over a cup of Bosnian coffee, whilst sharing the importance and the meaning of its consumption. Next, you will begin a war tour. You can find out what it was like to live without food, water, electricity and gas, as well as how the children were going to school and what the culture and sports scene was like throughout war. Upon arrival at the Tunnel Museum, you will pass through 20 meters of the original tunnel, before watching a movie about the war in Sarajevo upon which the guide will explain the role of the tunnel during the siege, its construction and its methods of use. For the final stage of your tour, you will learn about the 14th Olympic Winter Games which were held in Sarajevo from February 8th to 19th, 1984. It was the first Winter Olympics to be held in a communist country, and on this tour you can see the place where the opening ceremony took place whilst discovering what the Olympic Games meant for the people of Sarajevo. You will be taken to three breathtaking mountains around the city that hosted the Olympics, some of which are still in ruins from the war. At the end you will visit the Olympic Museum, where the memory of one of the most successful Winter Olympics of the 20th century is kept.
