Konstantina met me on time and we drove to the Profit Ilias lookout point, just below the summit with its monastery. The sun seemed to take forever to rise and when it did it was pretty hazy. We took some photos there and then towards Pyrgos and Oia. We drove into Pyrgos for coffee and milk pie (I think that's what they were called - very lightly sweetened custard centre with flakey pastry outer) and chatted in one of the squares there before our final stop. This stop was just next to the beach and had some gorgeous shapes carved by the wind into the soft pumice and now used by nesting birds. The light was still surreal, almost blending the sea and the sky into one. I think because we were chatting so much the tour lasted an hour longer than intended but it was a very enjoyable time. Obviously when I got back to the hotel the photos I had created in my head were not matched by what I'd actually taken but any fault was mine.
This was the most enjoyable thing we did on our whole trip! Aris was incredible, not only with his knowledge of local foods and drinks but also his ability to make everyone feel relaxed and that you've known him for years. He's Greek born but grew up in Australia so speaks perfect English which means that you get the best of both worlds. He not only acted as our food guide but he also helped guide us for the rest of the holiday, telling us where was best to go and provided his number so we could ask any questions we had throughout our stay. He went above and beyond for everything including helping me with my holiday tradition of getting a football shirt from every country we visit to remember our stay by (Aris of course!) and even brought an ultra's shirt to our hotel for me! This is a must do tour on anyone's trip to Santorini, if you miss this then you miss out on the real Santorini!
Really enjoyed our sea kayaking experience. It's a great way to be on the water, see some of the coast line, and learn about the history of the island. Our guide, Costas, was very knowledgeable and friendly. Even in some heavy winds, our kayaks were both stable and easy to handle. At the end of the tour, we had a great lunch at the taverna on the beach. Definitely recommend.
It was definitely the best experience we had in Santorini! It’s really worth the money, the crews are very friendly, the boat is very clean and well-maintained. When you go to Santorini, you need to do this trip, because you will get the best view of the whole island and sunset. It‘s highly recommended!
Must do experience when visiting Santorini. The staff on the Spiradakos cruise were great - super friendly and kept us topped up with wine. Great boat, plenty of space for everyone. Excellent way to watch the sunset!
