Full description
Visit the residence of a Chilean astronomer who has built the closest private observatory to Santiago in the foothills of the Andes. Learn all about the stars and constellations that can be seen in the Southern Hemisphere. Then, look into the Universe through a variety of telescopes both before and after sunset. Depending on the time of year, you will be able to see different planets, stars, clusters, and nebulae. Venus and Mercury are almost always seen. You may also see Jupiter and its moons in permanent motion, as well as Mars, and Saturn with its rings. Chile enjoys more than 300 clear days per year and conditions are usually ideal for stargazing under open skies. Enjoy a glass of wine accompanied by cheeses and snacks as you discuss the marvelous wonders of the universe.
