Full description

Join a guided hike in the mountainous town of Santiago Apoala. Experience waterfalls, lagoons, caves, and more before feasting on a traditional lunch in a local's home. Begin your adventure at 7:00 AM. Meet your guides, check your equipment, and enjoy some fresh fruit. Set out on a 3-hour ride to Apoala, with sandwiches being provided on arrival. Then, it's time to set out on your hike. Arrive at the first stop and explore a beautiful canyon with magnificent views. Follow the river down to a lagoon where you can swim and jump into the blue water from a tree.

Continue hiking to arrive at another lagoon with calmer water and a pebble beach. Then, move onto the Apoalas waterfall where you can swim, take pictures, and hangout in the cave beneath it. Upon completing the hike, hop into your transportation to head back into town. There, treat yourself to a well-deserved meal served at a local's home. Feast on traditional Mixtec dishes cooked using organically-grown ingredients cultivated in Apoala. Enjoy a lunch that may include wheat, corn, oatmeal, alfalfa, avocado, pear, quince, or pomegranate, before journeying back to Oaxaca City.
