2. La Garrotxa Volcanoes Half-Day Hot Air Balloon Flight

Glide with the breeze over the Natural Park of La Garrotxa, located between the Pyrenees and Costa Brava, and discover from the sky how the volcanoes of Catalonia are a paradise for nature lovers. See how the landscape was shaped by volcanic activity in a way that is simply not possible from the ground. The balloon is constantly monitored by a 4WD car that will be ready to pick you up on landing. Then, it’s back to the launch facilities, where you will celebrate your balloon experience with a typical country breakfast of pa amb tomàquet (bread and tomato), cold cured sausage and beans from Santa Pau, roasted sausage, Catalan wine, and a glass of the local ratafia liquor.

For at least 10 years, I had saved a magazine article about the medieval city of Besalu, about an hour outside of Barcelona. I just completed a long-awaited trip to Spain and Besalu was high on my list of destinations. I so enjoyed the drive out of the city and into the Spanish countryside. Besalu is very charming and well preserved, it was such a treat to see! The tour operator was especially helpful, can’t say enough about the customer service, and this was the first time I’d booked with GetYourGuide. Next trip, I’ll book all my tours and tickets through them.

We were a group of 7. The meeting point was easy to find. Van was comfortable with good air conditioning which felt great on a hot day. Alvar had lots of great history to share. All stops were as advertised. Incredible views of ancient locales. We learned a lot more than if we had. visited on our own. Best surprise was the tasty stop for lunch at a place serving Catalonian food. A bargain for 15 euros! Highly recommend.

We went on this tour in November, which was still pretty warm, but the locations we visited were very calm, no tourists at all. This and stories told by our guide Ruben made an excellent, stress-free, really relaxing day for us, having plenty time to wander and wonder around with no rush, and have a nice lunch by the river, with the view of Besalu bridge.

Very much worth it! Enjoyed the towns, the views and history lessons from our guide, André!

Interesting itinerary and excellent guide in alvar
