Sani Pass Private Tour

2. Sani Pass Private Tour

The day begins with an early morning collection in a 4×4 vehicle and travels towards the Sani Pass. Enjoy the luxury of having your own private vehicle, which allows for more space and comfort as you travel along the bumpy roads, and the freedom to decide where you’d like to go. As the altitude increases, the road becomes narrower and more treacherous, and all signs of human habitation disappear, leaving you alone in the glory of the majestic mountains. Stop and take photos at your leisure, and enjoy a selection of hot and cold beverages and freshly baked snacks as you absorb the breathtaking views. Nearing the top of the pass at 2876 m, head through border control and towards the desolate Lesotho Highlands. Visit a private homestead and immerse yourself in the local community. Learn about the culture and lifestyle of this small family. Then take a walk to learn the stories of the shepherds within their own stone dwellings. Finally, enjoy a refreshing beer at the highest pub in Southern Africa on the return journey before relaxing in the 4×4 as you marvel at more stunning scenic views.

Greg, our driver was on time at our accommodation exactly as agreed. We were then greeted with nicely prepared seats. A blanket, something to drink and a menu card were ready on the stand for what we would eat during a short break. He could tell us a lot about the area on the way to the Sani Pass. On the way over the bumpy roads to the Sani Pass, he showed us the most beautiful spots and drove very considerately. At the same time there was something to drink and very tasty little things (muffins, cookies, etc.) baked by his wife himself. When he arrived in Lesotho, he showed us how people there deny your life and always treated them with respect. In the end we sat for a beer in the highest pub in South Africa. We thank Greg for this wonderful day and can only recommend this tour to everyone! All in all a very nice day.

Overall, the tour over the Sani Pass to a mountain village in Lesotho was a very interesting tour. Unfortunately, we were unlucky with the weather when driving over the Sani Pass, it rained at times and it was foggy. Sometimes we couldn't even see the next hairpin bend. But our guide was a very safe driver! We were very happy that we decided to do the big tour. Because that's how we drove to a mountain village in Lesotho via a newly developed road and were warmly welcomed by the villagers and were able to learn a lot about how the people there live without electricity. In winter they sometimes have -14 degrees and they heat their huts with fire. We were very impressed!

A perfectly organized tour. Pick up at Oak Ridge Guest House perfect. Our guide, Gregory, made us feel from the start that this is our day today. An absolutely exciting climb to the Sani Pass. I can only recommend everyone to 1. do the tour and 2. book the tour as a private tour. We had the Toyota to ourselves. Looking at the Range Rover with 6-8 seats, we were more than happy to have decided on this tour. Everything was fine, including the little things.

Exceptional. David is an excellent guide. Stunnin views. Highlly recommanded private tour.
