San Sebastian: Guided Group Tour with Tapas and Drinks

2. San Sebastian: Guided Group Tour with Tapas and Drinks

The gastronomy in the Basque Country is known for its quality all over the world, although we know that nowadays internet overwhelms us with information, and get to the appropriate place to taste the best recipes and products can be a matter of luck. That’s why we designed a tasting menu of “pintxos” and pairing with local wines, to guarantee that you enjoy of the best quality. Our local guides will take you into a culinary trip by the gastronomical traditions that make us stand out, a cuisine focused on the quality products and the know-how that gave the success to the Basque chefs, from the bars to the Michelin-starred restaurants. In Bilbao stands out the cuisine rooted to tradition and in San Sebastián a more creative cuisine, both of them a delight for the five senses. Besides tasting with us the best gastronomy and giving you personalized suggestions following your preferences, we have some surprises for you… Come with us and discover them! What are the “pintxos”? They are the most popular miniature cuisine in the Basque Country. This name comes from the verb “pinchar” (prick) in Spanish, but in the Basque Language we write it with “tx” instead of “ch”. That’s because originally we pricked with a toothpick the product or tiny dish upon a basis of bread. But nowadays the cuisine evolved and there are just some pintxos that looks this way. Nowadays we find a world of flavours in small size… from a simple quality product to a complex cooking. When we eat pintxos we take one or two of them and we do bar hopping to taste the best pintxos in every bar. That’s how we will do it in the tour! Hector was an amazing guide. As he’s a local to San Sebastián he gave us just the right amount of history and daily life & culture to really get to grips with this fabulous city. The food on the tour was excellent , super fresh and varied. We wouldn’t have had the ability to experience these little unknown family run restaurants unless you had a guide. Also as we don’t have Spanish never mind Basque (local dialect) it made it all effortless. Hector guided us through the warren of beautiful and fascinating little streets while pointing out hidden places and of course we had lots of food and drinks along the way. This tour is a must while in San Sebastián ........ thanks Hector

Best food tour ever! Ania was friendly, engaging and informative. The Pintxos were superb, each and every one of them. With her background knowledge and connections, we clearly knew what we were tasting and why. We were made to feel very special in the bars we visited, and Ania made every effort to adapt to our needs and preferences. We had been on a more expensive higher-rated tour two nights earlier, which we had enjoyed, but this one was streets ahead, both by the food and by the guide. I would go out of my way to try more Devour experiences in future, after sampling this one.

We did this tour on our first night in San Sebastián. It should be the first thing anyone does! It taught us so much about the food/wine and Basque culture. Our tour guide, Natalia was bubbly, interesting and had grown up in San Sebastián. I’m sending my daughter and her friend on the same tour when they arrive on Friday!

Hector was a wonderful guide who is passionate about San Sebastian. He was able to mix in the history of the city as we went on our pinxto tour. I can feel Hector's passion about the city and the people there, this is one of the best things I have done in Spain.

Natalie was the best tour guide my mom and I could have asked for. Such a fun experience and we even went back to one of the bars for food in the evening!
