  • Caye Caulker: 7-Stop Snorkeling in the Belize Barrier Reef

    1. Caye Caulker: 7-Stop Snorkeling in the Belize Barrier Reef

Meet your group at 9:00 AM at the local partner's office located on Caye Caulker. Get geared up, listen to a quick briefing on what to do and not to do to ensure the day is fun-filled and safe. Belize Barrier Reef is the second-largest coral reef after the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and the largest of its kind in the Northern and Western hemispheres. Several rare and endangered animal species are found in the area, as well as the world’s largest population of West Indian manatees and plenty of sea turtles. The snorkeling begins with manatees and turtles. Then, witness corals that have been protected for over 30 years at the Hol Chan marine reserve. The Hol Chan Marine Reserve was established as a marine protected area in 1987 and offers spectacular coral formations, plus a rich abundance and diversity of marine life.  After Hol Chan, dive with sharks in the Ray Alley. Stop for lu...

We had Salam and Raheem as our guides and we honestly had so much fun! They were knowledgeable, fun, and patient. One person in our group was not a strong swimmer and they held on to him the entire time AND made sure he saw everything. There are 6 stops- Swim with Manatees, Hol Chan, Shark and Ray Alley, Coral Reef, Tarpon Viewing, and searching for Sea Horses! The included lunch was so delicious. I highly recommend making this part of your trip to Caye Caulker.

  • Caye Caulker: Hol Chan Marine Reserve Small-Group Tour

    2. Caye Caulker: Hol Chan Marine Reserve Small-Group Tour

Discover the wide variety of lush marine life in the Hol Chan Marine Reserve. Get your heart racing by snorkeling with sharks and stingrays on the second-largest barrier reef in the world. Receive GoPro pictures after your tour to relive your experience with friends and family. Meet your group at the meeting point on Caye Caulker island, then take a 30-minute boat ride along the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef to the Hol Chan Marine Reserve. Hol Chan has been a marine reserve since May 2, 1987, and covers almost 7 square miles (18 square kilometers). Some areas are only about 5 feet (around 1.5 meters) deep, while the channel is about 30 feet (just over 9 meters) deep. Once at the reserve, choose whether to observe the abundant marine life from the boat or take the adrenaline rush of jumping in and exploring the amazing underwater world. If snorkeling, keep on the lookout for brain coral, st...

Raheem and Eugene. You want these dudes to give you the knowledge and guidance that this environment needs and deserves. Bring a good riddle, Raheem likes a good riddle. Eugene is a good dude who will give you a proper in water tour and guide. Words just won't cut it, get in on it. Watch out for Maryjane the turtle, she's a kind old soul.

The tour guides were wonderful- so much fun & very knowledgeable about all the various types of sea life and made a delicious lunch. The stops were gorgeous and filled with so many amazing sea creatures. 10/10 must do while on the island.
