Full description

Following a morning pickup at your accommodation, embark in direction of your bio bay and rainforest combo adventure. Enjoy the beautiful views along the scenic route through the Northside of the island and learn some facts about the areas from your guide. Make a stop in the town of Luquillo and enjoy some fresh local fruits before continuing the journey to Puerto Rico's majestic Rainforest. El Yunque is without a doubt Puerto Rico’s greatest natural wonder. It is the only tropical rainforest, and the most studied forest in the United States National Forest System. It is the most biologically diverse forest, hosting hundreds of plants and animals - some of which are only found here in Puerto Rico. Once there, hike through natural trails lined with beautiful flora and fauna, and some river wading, until you'll arrive at a hidden gem located in the heart of the rainforest. Enjoy the breathtaking segment of the 29,000-acre forest and take a swim in natural pools, refresh in the waterfalls, slide down an exhilarating waterslide, rope swing into the river, jump from different rock formations, and enjoy fresh local fruit with a view.

After an exciting first half of the day, you will have worked up an appetite. Make a stop for dinner at a local restaurant and savor Puerto Rican cuisine. Relax a bit until it’s time for your second part of your combo tour – the Bioluminescent Lagoon, one of planet earth's best-kept secrets. Begin your Fajardo Bio Bay kayak tour at Las Croabas. After receiving a safety briefing of kayaking 101, head toward the Red Mangrove Forest with an amazing view of the sunset. Enjoy kayaking for approximately 30 minutes, and admire the forests beautiful protected flora and fauna.

Upon arrival in Laguna Grande, the sun will set and the magic begins. Tiny organisms called dinoflagellates make the water glow at night. Watch how sparkles appear in the water at every stroke of your paddle, follow the swirl of lights created by the kayaks, and admire the glowing fish in the darkness of the water.

Communication was great! Easy transportation. Instructions say to wear swimsuit, but, really a pair of sport legging type shorts would be ideal. Highly recommended lightweight (dri fit) type clothing/shirt (no cotton). You will get fully submersed in the water. Wear old tennis shoes (& old socks) with good grip & plan to discard them or machine wash them due to the soupy rainforest mud. I wore a pair of closed to Keen hiking sandals w/ great grip & they were perfect! The guides were great & take pics & email them to you. You will leave everything on the bus during both excursions. Only brought a bottled water along on trail. No lunch provided, but they stop for smoothies on the way & have a great fruit spread (pineapple, papaya, mango, avocado) for a mid-day snack. Supper (you are responsible for the payment) is early (3:30/4) and was pretty good. Your guide will share a menu & get your order once you arrive to the rainforest. Rainforest portion was amazing! Kayaking was just ok. Enjoy

Highly recommend this excellent experience. We had Luis, Jami, and Maxine leading us through the El Yunque trail hike and water activities: 2 natural water slides, cliff jump, and rope swing/water drop. This was followed by some relaxing free time around the water with fresh local fruits to snack on. This was followed by dinner near the biobay. The biobay tour was great, led by different guides that did a good job. The total kayak tour across the bay, through the mangroves (you'll want mosquito repellent), and into the biobay was about 2.5 miles round trip. Getting to see the bioluminescence made it all worth it. The tour did not do pickups where we were staying in Tio Grande but they were great in coordinating a pickup spot very close to where we were staying. Big props to Erica for her quick communications through email and to Jami for her amazing and skilled driving on the El Yunque roads! Would do this tour again in a heartbeat!

The el yunque tour was amazing and very well organized. The biobay tour was nice, but the pictures on Google and on the website are not accurate. We only saw the bioluminescence for a total of 5 minutes on the hour long kayak ride. Other than that, it is really worth it and so would recommend the tour.
