Departing from the nearby meeting point, visit the University of Costa Rica campus, home to some of the largest patches of forest in San Jose. Guided by young biologists, discover the nature hiding in the middle of Costa Rica's largest city. Experience wildlife you wouldn't have imagined existed minutes away from downtown.   On the first stop, you’ll look for resident and migratory birds, lots of incredible insects and amazing flowers. We'll be talking about art, history, indigenous culture, and most of all, nature. Lastly, visit the main campus to seek out the friendly sloths climbing freely. The goal of this tour is to change the way tourism is done in Costa Rica, while supporting young scientists, researchers, and local entrepreneurs.

This was a cute, chill program, where we walked a little and learnt a lot about the flora and fauna of the greens surrounding the University of Costa Rica. We were so lucky to have seen a sloth up close, also very active. This is a great program to do in San Jose!

Amazing walking on campus and seeing such a diverse natural environment amongst the university & students. Our tour guide, Raquel, was well prepared w/telescope, nature guidebook & rain gear which needed during rainy season! Her knowledge of the animals & foliage and explanation in lay-person’s terms made your fascinating!

This was a perfect two-hour walk around the University campus thanks to our guide Caliopi. She was the most amazing and interesting guide who shared a number of insightful information, details, and stories about flora and fauna around the main campus. Plus, as a true lover of wildlife and a biology student, Caliopi was able to answer all of our questions. On top of everything, she managed to find several sloths sleeping in tree branches and introduce us to the diverse bird world.
