1. Algarve: Flavors and Traditions Tour
Experience the tastes and traditions of the inland Algarve around the Barrocal. Step into local life and traditions in São Brás de Alportel, Salir, and Sarnadas. Stop at a cork factory, cake shop, and organic farm, where you can sample local foods. Start in the small town of São Brás de Alportel, a typical example of the Algarve’s architecture and local activities. Visit a cork factory and learn how the cork is locally harvested before being prepared, treated, and exported. Then, stop at a typical cake shop in town that’s renowned for its traditional produce: carob bread, almond cakes, and honey cakes. There will also be time to visit the town’s costume museum, the Algarve Costumes Ethnographic Museum. Afterward, enjoy free time for an optional lunch before moving on to Salir. Next, arrive at Salir, a bucolic village where you can see the remnants of an ancient castle and its walls. Near the end of the tour, taste the traditional jams and honey produced at an organic farm on the outskirts of Sarnadas. Finish your tour having tasted some of Algarve’s authentic flavors.
