Full description
After being collected from your accommodation, you will make your way to Santa Maria. Once there you can get to know the history of this city, which has transformed from the extraction of its salt to the biggest tourist city in Cape Verde. You will then make your way to Kite Beach, which is one of the best places in the world to practice kite surfing and is usually chosen to hold the world kite surfing championships. Next you will visit Porto Palmeira, which is a simple place where people take their sustenance from fishing and working in the port. You will be able to see the arrival of the crafts, as well as all the activity around the sale of fish. Next up, your tour progresses to Pedra de Lume Beach, Pedra de Lume, and Ilha do Sal. There you can visit the first village in Sal island, which was founded in 1804, to learn about the history and development of the local economy based on the export of salt. You will then progress towards Miragem, where you will see the effects of water illusions in the desert. Following this you will travel to Buracona, where you will see "Blue Eye" (one of the 7 wonders of the country) and its natural pool. Following the pool, you will explore the Pedra Lume Salt Crater, where you will learn all about the nourishing benefits this salt center has to the locals. You will then experience Shark Bay, where you will have the experience to see lemon sharks in their natural environment very closely. Towards the end of your tour you will visit Murdeira Village, a natural reserve of the bay of Murdeira which has a great diversity of coral and fish. Finally, you will visit Espargos, the economic center of the city.

If we could give 500 stars we would. Our friendly and knowledgeable tour guide Chan was so thoughtful in how he tailored the day to show us the best parts of Sal, and they really are beautiful. We enjoyed local delicacies in an intimate and welcoming cafe, swam in a refreshing pool next to the astonishing Blue Eye landmark, carefully made our way across the stony beach to meet sharks in the wild and experienced the confusing amazement of the salt pool at the mines. The day went by so fast, but the memories will surely last a lifetime. Thank you so much Chan for introducing us to your beautiful, idyllic country!

We had a great time on our 7 hour tour of the island and would highly recommend this tour to anyone. Our tour guide CHAN was great funny friendly. floated in the salt lake and saw the old salt fields, paddled in the shollows with the lemon sharks. Looked in to Blue eye cave and swam in a smaller cave below and enjoyed a seafood barbecue meal at Palmeira. infor Make sure you take swimwear, towels and water shoes if you can. Also get changed in to your swim wear before seeing the sharks as the water can get you wet unless you are a giant. Dusty roads so be prepared to get a little dirty. But totally worth it.

Absolutely fantastic day our with our two teenagers. Our guide Chan was fun, knowledgeable and full of enthusiasm. A brilliant way to see all the highlights of the island. We rode in the back of the truck which was great fun. I recommend trying up your hair as it gets very windy! There was a photographer with us with no pressure to buy the photos. We bought ours as he'd taken some great ones. Overall a great day. So many highlights. A day to remember.
