Our group of 4 adults enjoyed the tour of the old chateau ruins buried under Dufferin Terrace. The excavated chateau foundations were very interesting - particularly the huge hole where blocks of river ice were stored to preserve food for the grand dinners thrown by the French and English governors of Quebec. Our female guide was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and easy to understand, Her talk gave good insight into battles fought in the area and what life was like from Champlain onward. Shards of pottery, bits of jewelry and tools, and weaponry that were found in the "dig" were also on display. This is an "easy" tour that only takes an hour and is not difficult to walk. It's well worth your time as an introduction to your visit to old Quebec City. Since most of the tour is underground, it's also a good activity during cold or rainy weather.
