  • Northern Lights Hunting With Lappish BBQ in Rovaniemi

    1. Northern Lights Hunting With Lappish BBQ in Rovaniemi

The Northern Lights dancing up above is such a powerful and unique natural phenomenon - it changes lives down on Earth. Being one of the best places to spot the Auroras, Finnish Lapland is the ideal place to see them. Your guide provides you with a pick-up/drop off at your hotel/accommodation, and then you will be taken away from the city, about 20-25 km away, to a beautiful natural lakeside landscape, where there`s no light pollution, the ideal place to spot this beautiful natural phenomenon. Once there, you will be provided with a traditional Lappish BBQ with Blueberry Tea, and your guides will explain all you need to know about the Northern Lights.

Our guide was Matias, he was incredibly knowledgeable about the northern lights, explained exactly how they form, he was also super friendly and it was like hanging out with an old friend! We unfortunately didn’t manage to see the lights as it was too cloudy but we still had a great time. We had a BBQ with grilled sausages, salmon soup warmed up by the fire, hot berry juice and then some sweet snacks including marshmallows. It really was great even if we didn’t manage to see the lights, we spent about 2 or 3 hours outdoors warming by the fire, and learning about Rovaniemi. Really recommend this tour, thank you Matias!

  • Rovaniemi: Northern Lights Wilderness Tour with Camera

    10. Rovaniemi: Northern Lights Wilderness Tour with Camera

Drive away from the city to the place with the highest chance of seeing the Northern Lights. Find a warm spot to set up the fire and sit and wait for the show. The more time you spend outside the more likely you are to see the lights. Usually, you can view the Aurora in the middle of a huge frozen lake or river.  All of the pictures of the Northern Lights on the website were taken during tours, some by clients and some by guides. Some were even taken on a mobile phone. Cameras often capture stronger images than what you can see with the naked eye. However, when the Aurora really starts to dance, no cameras are needed. Put the cameras down and observe this very special phenomenon for a much more personal experience.

The experience was excellent. The tour guide was very helpful and he took some great shots of us with the Northern Lights. We were slightly disappointed that we did not see the lights ourselves, since it was cloudy, but through the camera they can be seen. The BBQ was very pleasant. An overall exceptional experience

What people are saying about Rovaniemi

We had a really great day at the reindeerfarm, spendig the beginning of the tour feeding the animals and having coffee/tea and cookies at the campfire. The atmosphere was amazing & we loved listening to the interesting things the owner of the farm told us about! Afterwards the guide gave us instructions on how to canoe before we went out on the lake to discover the beautiful landscape. During the whole adventure our guide took care of taking snapshots with the camera and even with the drone - it was such a great day & we would highly recommend this daytrip to everyone!

We had an incredible time with our guide Sandra. She was really nice and fun. We went in the snow for about 30-40 minutes and then we stopped at a lake to fish and eat. Luckily, we managed to catch perches, while Sandra was starting a fire to grill our sausages. After that we came back. The tour lasts about 4 hours and the experience is really magic + cheap compared to the others. I strongly recommend it !

It was absolutely amazing!! The dog owners were extremely nice and answered all of our questions, the dogs were so cute and cuddly. The ride through the forest was an experience we will never forget! Petting the dogs was so amazing, they were not shy at all! Our guide was also very friendly and gave us some good insider info about the hotspots of rovaniemi!

Great experience, they truly look after their dogs. The dogs are very friendly and past of the family.

The activities were fun and the guides were nice. It was great !
