The cards work, although physically acquiring them is a drag. Do your research on where to pick them up. The default location was near an airport that I had to pay a taxi to. Any secondary locations were poorly described. A digital version on someone's phone would be WAY more logical. Once I had them, it became easier. The buses were dealing with a minor protest, so ETAs were not reliable. The Metro line seemed fine. The city was nice. I will plan it better next time.

I bought Roma pass 48 hours to my family and I spend 2 full days at Rome. I worked perfect and we were able to visit many places in such a short period of time, thankfully for being able to take any transport at any time many times. We used it to visit Colosseum (need extra 2 euros ticket), Roman Forum and Paladine. We didn't have time to go to other paid museums.

Great way to get around the city. Best way to find routes and times was through google maps. It will route you to where the bus stop is and will tell you how many stops till you get off. Was in Rome in early March and buses were very crowded mostly standing room only so be prepared to push your way on or you’ll wait hours for the bus. Make your way to the door one stop before you need to get off when it’s super crowded. They don’t stop long and we got stuck on the bus for a few times. leave very yearly for tours it takes a while to get around town.
