Full description
Enjoy a full-day sightseeing tour of Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast from Rome, driving the scenic hill and coastal roads through towns and villages, such as Positano, Ravello and Sorrento. The first stop will be Pompeii, where a local guide will take you around the excavations of the everyday Roman town that was buried in 79 AD when Vesuvius erupted. Inside the staggering ruins, you will see the Macellum and Thermal Baths. Discover where Romans would gather for dinner and wine, and see some of the homes of wealthy citizens. Depart Pompeii for the Amalfi Coast, stopping at the enchanting seaside resort of Positano for lunch. From here, you will get fantastic views of Sorrento on the Sorrentine Peninsula, and of the gleaming Tyrhhenian Sea. After some free time to explore on your own, continue to Amalfi to visit the Duomo of Saint Andrea. Drive up the winding hills to Ravello, where Wagner found inspiration for the set designs of his opera “Parsifal.” Drive north back to Rome, for a drop off at your hotel at approximately 20:30.

Excellent trip

I recommend this trip if you only have one day to see Amalfi & Positano, Pompeii. Our guide, Alessandro, was so great with us. He also recommended a wonderful restaurant with breathtaking view of the Mediterranean Sea for lunch. Ive been on many tours and this is one of the best.

After all was said and done, successful trip.

Because of unforeseen circumstances our trip did not go as planned. Road closures and delays caused us to miss Pompeii. Even so, our guides went above and beyond to make it right for us. We were able to take a train to Pompeii the following day (paid for by our guides). They even picked us up the next day and took us to the train station. Positano and The Amalfi Coast were beautiful. Our guides were helpful and fair.

They promise more than they deliver.

Our guide arrived 45 minutes late, had to stop for gas because he was on empty, then had to stop again for coffee because he was falling asleep on the ride. The tour is described as visiting Pompeii first, then lunch at Positano, then on to a visit to the Almalfi coast. Our guide told us we were going to do the tour in the opposite order: starting in Almalfi, then ending with Pompeii. Because he made this change, in addition to his necessary stops, we arrived at Pompeii and it was closed. He then told his supervisor that it was because of US that we missed Pompeii. What?! We were extremely disappointed. We were promised an English speaking guide, and spent the day with someone we could not understand at all. WE pointed out Vesuvius, to which he told us we were wrong. We then asked what a particular tree was as we were driving and he told us it was a peanut tree. Really? Another stop on the way home for more coffee. A very long, disappointing day, which should have been memorable.
