Full description

Discover the wonders of the Amalfi Coast on this guided trip from Rome. Ride a train to Salerno and take in the passing sights on a ferry ride along the coast. Stop in Amalfi and visit a lemon orchard for a limoncello tasting.

The day starts in Rome where you’ll catch a high-speed train to Salerno with your group of travelers and a tour leader. From there, hop on a ferry ride that takes you along the stunning Amalfi Coast. The first stop is Amalfi, where you’ll head up to a lovely lemon orchard and enjoy a tasting of one of the region’s most beloved products: the sweet, tangy liqueur called limoncello. The farm is perched above the town and offers stunning views out to sea.

After the tasting, take advantage of free time to explore the town and, if you enjoyed your tasting, buy some limoncello.  Embark on another ferry ride along the epic coastline to your next stop, the neighboring town of Positano, a small fishing town that has long been the holiday destination of choice for VIPs, from the Romantic poets of the 19th century to today’s Hollywood stars.

After an orientation walk with your guide, you’ll have two hours of free time. Browse the boutiques filled with world-famous beachwear, have leather sandals made to fit your feet, or enjoy a lunch of local delicacies at a seaside cafe (costs not included).

Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit, as there’s nothing nicer on a summer’s day than a dip in the sea. After you've gotten to know Positano, head back on the boat for a return cruise to Salerno where you’ll catch the train back to Rome.

Well organized trip with wonderful guide. Met at train station for comfortable 1 1/2 trip to Salerno in high-speed , clean , comfortable modern train . Then walked over to marina for ferry ride to Amalfi with wonderful views of the coast . Once there up to the lemon grove for the limoncello tasting . About 200 steps but worth it for the views and the limoncello demonstration and tasting . Mauro is very knowledgeable about the area’s history and we did a brief walking tour of the town then plenty of time for shopping and strolling . Back on the ferry to Positano for more great coastal views and wonderful lunch at Chez Black . Mauro gave us great advice on sights , shopping , and eating places and they were spot on . After lunch plenty of time for shopping , gelato , and people watching . Would really recommend this ferry option . The towns look amazing from the water and are relatively short rides from town to town and with a guide like Mauro makes it even better. Thank you Mauro !

We had a great time for it being the first time we’ve done a city tour! We were in a large group, but we broke up and Franceska was our guide. She was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and caring. She gave great instruction and also made sure everyone got an opportunity to spend their time experiencing each location. Our favorite part was the boat ride itself. Though nothing out of the ordinary, just the views were breathtaking.

A perfect day! Our guide Federico was friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. He went above and beyond to give us suggestions and make sure we had a good time. We spent about 2 hours in Amalfi and 2 hours in Positano. It was so wonderful to have someone else to organize the day and worry about transportation. All that we had to do was show up and enjoy ourselves. The Limoncello orchard was an exceptionally unique experience. It was a private visit to a family farm. It was a peek into the life of locals on Italy’s coast. We were skeptical that it would feel to rushed and the day would be too long, but everything was just right. Do this tour!!!
