During the 1 hour and 30-minute tour, your guide will walk you through the Colosseum, while explaining the true brilliance behind its engineering. Learn the history behind this magnificent monument and all that surrounds it. The iconic structure was built as a gift to the Roman citizens, to stage various forms of entertainment and to showcase Roman engineering techniques to the rest of the world. Guide (guy with an M) was really informative. Group size was good. Very interesting to hear all of the facts of what we were seeing.

Not worth it

Our 1st disappointment was that the meeting time was simply the time to meet to be escorted to the other mtg point across the street where we waited another half hour. This meant that this cut into our daylight to see other sites even more than we'd realized. The line to enter in January was shorter than our wait time. The view we would have had from general admission was at a gate only 3 ft away. The general entrance is the winners' exit rather than the carrion. The guide's spiel was everything you'd "learn" if you googled myths about the colosseum which are probably false. The historic references were grossly oversimplified (ex. The Romans didn't conquer Scotland because it was cold.) The true facts were things regularly read in 1 page entries of a guide book for free.
