Full description
Join the select few people who have hiked up the legendary Sugarloaf Mountain (Pão de Açúcar) and experience Rio de Janeiro from a fresh perspective. Follow the same path that the first person to walk up the mountain used in 1817. Set off from the Pista Claudio Coutinho to reach a beautiful lookout with spectacular views of the entrance to Guanabára Bay and the city of Niterói in just 20 minutes. Then, brave the more technical trail and hike across stone ramps to discover some beautiful belvederes. Get the perfect introduction to basic rock climbing as you face the challenge of a 20-meter high vertical wall. Reach the viewpoint of the Pedra Filosofal to soak up the magnificent vistas of Copacabana Beach, Pedra da Gávea, and Morro Dois Irmãos. Continue to the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain before the descent on the cable car back down Urca Hill.

undoubtedly highlight of trip. did a lot of tours every day but this was amazing. if you never climbed (but happy to hike) you should do it. if you have climbed then you should definitely do it. the views are amazing on the trail. I was lucky to have Thomas as a guide, he was super considerate with the pace and I learnt so much on the way. was an amazing feeling to arrive at the top.

First off, excellent communication we had to reschedule a few times due to weather. We had phone numbers to the company, our driver, and guide through WhatsApp and all of them reached out to us 24 hours in advance. We had an amazing time with Didi (our guide). He was an experienced and confident climber. I highly recommend booking with him. He set a good pace and always let us know where we were headed. We felt it was like climbing with an old friend. He was able to point out excellent view spots and let us pause for pictures. He told us a lot about the surrounding area and history of sugar loaf mountain. We spotted monkeys on the hike down the mountain. It was a good mix of climbing, hiking and sight seeing. When we reached the summit we took in the sights and had a slice of pizza before taking the cable car back to the bottom of the mountain. The weather was perfect! I recommend going on a clear dry day to be able to take in the view! Thanks Didi for a memorable experience!

The tour was amazing thanks to our guide Thomas with whom we felt safe all the time. He informed us about the history and nature throughout the tour. It feels overwhelming when you arrive at the top of Sugarloaf mountain being the only ones that climbed up instead of going with the cable car. Be fit and wear shoes with good grip. Highly recommended!
