Full description
On this jam-packed Rio city tour, mix historical venues, modern designs and stunning views from iconic sites to give you a full taste of Rio’s past, present and future. Start your journey in the classic area of Copacabana, where you’ll head to the subway to reach the downtown area at Cinelandia Square. Ride the newest transportation option in Rio, the VLT tram. The sustainable ride on the electric tram takes you across downtown all the way to the renovated harbor area, which has been developed into the modern Olympic Boulevard. The 2016 Olympic Games have left a great legacy on that side of town, and you won’t get a better first impression of modern-day Rio de Janeiro.   Get off the tram right by the impressive and colorful graffiti mural designed by Eduardo Kobra. His work features the indigenous people of five continents and covers over 2,600 square metres of the building. From there, head from the boulevard down to the Museum of Tomorrow, another impressive work that’s great for snapping a few photos with Guanabara Bay in the background. You’ll then connect from this renovated area to the old district of the city via a new pathway along the bay. Moving along the old streets of Rio de Janeiro’s downtown, reach the first bakery of Rio. This traditional spot dates back to 1894 and has kept all of its original enchantment. As you enjoy the fancy architecture, treat yourself to some of the yummiest desserts in town. After this sugar rush, walk to Carioca Square to take the subway back to Copacabana. Feeling like you have some more adventure in you? Then incorporate this tour with your afternoon Sugarloaf Mountain and Urca Discovery tour.

So, the tour was fantastic and my tour guide Lorena was just perfect! But the information GetYourGuide provides is just incorrect - starting from a meeting point and ending with it being a food+bar+history tour, but not only historical one. The price included a dish, beer, coffee, desserts and a few snacks like tapioca and green coconut - none of these are mentioned in the description. Five stars to the tour, three to GetYourGuide this time.

An interesting and insightful experience! The size of the group was perfect (2 of us + the guide). Debora was extremely knowledgeable about her city and planned a tour to show us the best of the Centre and the Old Town, and at the same time looked after our safety. Her references to history, geography, language, culture and personal experience, as well as her attention to our interests and preferences, made it a thoroughly enjoyable experience and an excellent way of getting to know some of the true Rio and a bit of Brazil. Debora’s excellent English and friendly attitude contributed to make this one of the highlights of my 2 week visit to Brazil! Muito obrigado!

Great informative and fun tour

Mariana was my guide and we had a great afternoon walking and chatting and I was learning more about Rio all the time. We didn’t rush, it was at a relaxed pace but we still managed to see so much. I had lots of questions which Mariana was happy to answer and her English is very good indeed. Her knowledge of Rio is full of detail and enthusiasm and we had a lot of laughs too. She has also given great tips for restaurants in different areas of Rio which was really helpful. There was time to sit as we talked about the history and landscape, go for a bathroom break as required and it’s easy to buy snacks or drinks along the way if you need to. Just ask. I would recommend this tour but highly recommend Mariana. A fun tour with a lot of interesting things to see and a heck of a lot to learn!
