Football in Brasil is really great, however there are a few things, you need to know about this tour: The current Stadium (Olympia-Stadium) is far out of the city, approx 50Min drive. That will be a bit better, once Manacara-Stadium is re-openened. So it really makes sense, to book this tour incl. transport, because with a taxi it would be really expensive and there would probably be no taxis for the way back and this in one of the worse areas of Rio.... The other thing to know is, that they have a quite complicated championship in brasilian football: In one half of the year, there is the league of the province (in this case Rio)...and in the second half of the year, the bigger teams are playing against each other. So, its really important to pick a good match to have this great brasilian football-samba-atmosphere. In our case, we only had 2800 spectators in a stadium of 60'000..... so a very bad and silent atmoshphere. Choose a "bigger game" or dont go....

I was impressed with the prompt communication via email after booking our tickets online. Our guide was on-time picking us up, and seemed very knowledgeable about the Rio futebol teams. Although we realized we could pay far less by buying tickets without the tour, it was nice to have transportation included so we didn't have to think about how to get there.
