  • Ring of Kerry: Lakes of Killarney Scenic Coach Tour

    1. Ring of Kerry: Lakes of Killarney Scenic Coach Tour

The Ring of Kerry skirts the Iveragh Peninsula and is undoubtedly Ireland’s most popular scenic drive. Begin by passing through Killorglin, home to the famous Puck Fair festival held in August every year. Stop at The Bog Village, a little cluster of thatched-roof cottages demonstrating what rural life was like in Kerry in the 1800’s. Continue through the village of Glenbeigh, with beautiful views over Rossbeigh Beach and the rugged hills of the Iveragh Peninsula. In the summer months, take in the spectacle of a traditional Irish sheepdog show at Kells. Sample fresh local produce while pausing for a deliciously traditional lunch in Cahersiveen town, The Scarriff Inn or Waterville. After lunch, explore the historic cove at Derrynane, a rocky inlet and notorious hideout for smugglers in the 18th century. It is the former seat of the O’Connell clan and home to Daniel O’Connell, a legend of ...

The whole experience was outstanding. The scenery and stops were so enjoyable, especially being able to closely view the landscape instead of watching the road and staying focused on staying on the left side of the road. The stops were well timed and perfect photo opportunities. I can't say enough about our driver and guide, Batt! He kept us well informed, entertained and from his descriptions of his past work, family stories, his commitment to those around him and his love for his community, he was a warm example of what makes Ireland so special. Thank you.

The tour was very well organised, the train and coach trips very comfortable and the Drymond B&B, which was cosy and very clean, gave us a wonderful taste of Irish hospitality. We had great views of the stunning scenery and landscape of the South-west of Ireland and all admissions to points of interest such as Blarney Castle, Cliffs of Moher, etc were efficiently taken care of with adequate provisions for rest within the scheduled times. The piece de resistance of the whole tour was our guide, Jonathan Beaumont. He gave us the best possible insight of Irish hospitality and welcome, he was professional and attentive to everyone, and imparted such in-depth and accurate historical facts of Ireland especially about the Great Famine. He also gave us interesting insights into the folklore and superstitions of Ireland such as the Fairy Tree :) . Our enjoyment of the whole tour was enhanced by this very special tour guide - thank you Jonathan! Doreen and Paule from Seychelles.
