  • Snorkeling in Silfra Fissure - Small Group Adventure

    3. Snorkeling in Silfra Fissure - Small Group Adventure

Undergo a unique underwater experience by snorkeling in the Silfra fissure on a half-day tour from Reykjavik. Frequently rated as one of the world's top 10 dive sites, Silfra offers up to 100 m (300 ft) of underwater visibility.

The cold waters melt off a glacier 50 km (30 miles) away, and make their way through lava fields to beautiful Thingvellir Lake.

Although the chilly waters are too cold to support much in the way of marine life, Iceland's Silfra crack runs down between the American and European continental plates a...

Fantastic experience! Beautiful, clear water, helpful guide, and lovely views all around. This was one of my favorite things we did in Iceland. I was very worried that my hands and feet were going to be too cold (I get Raynaud's), but actually while hands were quite cold, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting (I think partly because the dry suit keeps your body completely warm), and they warm you up quite quickly with hot cocoa afterwards. Very well worth doing--don't let the cold put you off!

Depart Reykjavik and head to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula to experience Iceland's diverse natural beauty in a single area. Take in the dramatic landscape of volcanic peaks, sea cliffs, golden beaches and sparkling fjords. Visit charming fishing villages, such as Grundarfjordur, Arnarstapi and Hellnar. Admire the spectacular mountains and volcanic craters, including Kirkjufell and Ljósufjöll. Cast your eyes on the black sand beach at Djúpalónssandur, see the majestic glacier of Snæfellsjökull. Tour at a leisurely pace and experience the magnificent scenery of the peninsula at ease. The 10-hour tour takes in a variety of landscapes in a compact region, immortalized by Jules Verne in his book, "Journey to the Centre of the Earth."

This was a fantastic tour. You spend a lot of time on the road but you get to see so much in just one day. The landscapes are awe-inspiring as are the tales that accompany them. Peter, the guide, told us histories, myths, and legends along the way. Mount Kirkjufell is breathtaking. My best photos of the trip came from this place.

  • Reykjavik: Silver Circle, Canyon Baths, and Waterfalls Tour

    6. Reykjavik: Silver Circle, Canyon Baths, and Waterfalls Tour

Start in Reykjavik and head to Borgarnes, the gateway to West Iceland. Make your first stop at Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in Europe, which is so strong that it provides hot water and power for the locals for miles around. Spend some time walking amongst the steaming clouds of vapor. Move onto Hraunfossar, also known as the "Lava Waterfalls." Take in the sight from several viewing platforms and see how the water stretches for nearly a kilometer over ancient lava fields, with meltwater from the Langjokull glacier pouring into the Hvita river. Just a few yards away is Barnafoss, also known as “the waterfall of the children,” named after the tragic tale of two local children. Your next stop is Husafell, a breathtaking woodland oasis and a historical site with traditional turf houses and even some “elf huts” to delight the children, too. See intriguing works by local art...

I did this experience on the 12th September. The driver was wonderful, he was a great communicator, very helpful and happy to answer any questions. I learned a lot about the history of the area. The van had USB ports and wifi and was very comfortable. The tour was similar as a lot of others, you some of the many waterfalls of Iceland. What made it special was the visit to Husafell, the original strongman stone and the hot pools nearby.

  • Reykjavik: 3-Hour Whale Watching Tour

To ensure that the animals are not disturbed, boats sail at a constant speed towards the whales' habitat. This is also is part of a sustainability policy that tries to minimize oil use and pollution. Guides have gone through an...

  • Reykjavik: Wild South Waterfalls, Black Beach & Glacier Hike

    10. Reykjavik: Wild South Waterfalls, Black Beach & Glacier Hike

If you are a nature lover, then this tour is made for you. It visits all the great attractions of the south coast, glaciers, the Black Beach of Reynisfjara, Eyjafjallajökull glacier volcano and of course, several of the beautiful waterfalls. The highlight of the tour is a Blue Ice Glacier Hike on Solheimajokull glacier which takes around 1.5-hours. Start by visiting the two great waterfalls of the south coast, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, as well as visiting lesser-known, more secret waterfalls Glufrabui and Irafoss. We had an amazing time on the Wild South tour, our guide was great, very knowledgeable and funny. The waterfalls were amazing and the glacier was one of the highlights of my trip. It was slightly more of a climb in some areas, we had crampons that fit on the bottom of our shoes, helmets and ice picks to hike the glacier, the view was amazing! I would highly recommend this tour to everyone!

We had two guides, Hallur and Ronan. It was because of them that this trip was so enjoyable! The waterfall was majestic and extremely windy. The geysir was tiny but still worth a visit. Then Hallur brought us for some delicious ice cream. It shocks the body to enjoy ice in the cold but the texture was just too good to put down the ice cream. Then, we went snorkelling with Ronan. Right off the bat, he was friendly and most kind. He got to know each one of us personally. He was a diver in the navy so you can rest assured that you're in safe hands! Ronan made the snorkelling experience like a party. We had so much fun. The waters were clear and mesmerizing. And the hot chocolate that comes after was the best thing ever. I was nervous about the cold before, but the cold didn't cross my mind at all while snorkelling. It was an awesome experience. Ronan was amazing too, as he always went out if his way to help us. Amazing trip overall! Highly recommended! The guides should get a raise too ;P

Our guide BG was amazing. You're lucky if you get him! He was full of cheeky, witty jokes, and he is extremely knowledgeable and insightful. To be honest, I was feeling under the weather. Everyone else in the trip was pretty hyped about everything and so BG was keeping up with their energy. But when he spoke to me, he matched my energy, and treated me kindly with respect. What a great guy! The trip itself was amazing too. We got very wet at the locations, from waterfalls to the black beach. So be prepared for that! It was truly awesome and inspiring. Highly recommend!

We all were collected right on time in a comfortable bus. Peter or guide took wonderful care of us, and snapped loads of photos during our excursion. The gear provided in addition to my smart wool base layer kept me warmer than I expected, which allowed me to focus all my attention on the beautiful and unique scenery. The cup of hot chocolate and biscuits after we returned to base was a tasty treat. Fantastic job. Team Arctic Adventures. I can't wait to snorkel again with you! Many thanks!
