Full description
This tour is a combination of the Viking Horse Riding Tour and Golden Circle Express Tour, and is perfect for visitors to Iceland who don’t have a lot of time to spare but want to make the most of a day. In the morning you’ll enjoy a ride on an Icelandic horse through the idyllic landscape of Laxnes, located just out of Reykjavik city. The Icelandic horse is a breed that has remained virtually unchanged since the Vikings brought it to Iceland in the 9th century. The riding tour is suitable for all ages and experience levels, from beginner to expert. After your morning ride and a short break you’ll head out on the afternoon portion of the tour, to Þingvellir National Park. Admire its remarkable geological features and see Alþingi, the Icelandic Parliament. Iceland’s Parliament is the oldest still-functioning parliament in the world, and was founded on this site in 930 A.D. Visit the impressive Gullfoss glacial waterfall, the geothermal area around Geysir, and Strokkur with its spouting geysers. You’ll pass through fertile agricultural areas before heading back to Reykjavik over Hellisheiði mountain heath.

we liked the combination of riding an Icelandic horse first and then being picked up for the golden circle. cozy guided tour with a good guide who gave us the history of Iceland and what it is like to live / live there today. there was also plenty of time at each stop, which made it a comfortable trip without stress.

Horse riding was nice! It was raining and was very windy but we got rainwear and everything. There were also gloves and hats you could use under the helmet available to borrow for free. We only stopped once during our ride, wished to stop a few more places for pictures etc. Very nice staff at Laxnes horse farm! After the horse riding we had to wait 1,5 hours at the horse farm to be picked up to go on with the golden circle tour. During those hours we got soup and bread for lunch. Still think 1,5 hours was a bit long to wait. The golden circle tour was also nice! Good bus with comfortable seats, possibility to charge your phone but with a WiFi that did not work (at least for us it wouldn’t work..). We got picked up at 09:00 am sharp for the horse ride, and we were back in the city by 19 pm.
