Full description

Your tour will start with a morning Reykjavik pick-up at authorized pick-up locations. You are then driven from the capital to Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where you will get the opportunity to follow a pathway that leads you behind the fall. Traveling through sensational scenery, you will arrive at Sólheimajökull glacier for a glacier walk. Your certified glacier guide will issue you with glacier equipment. Learn about the glacier, its movements, crevasses, and its formation. You will even hear the ancient ice cracking when it moves. Next up is the famous black sand beach at Reynisfjara to see the basalt columns and cave, the stunning Reynisdrangar cliffs and the impressive basalt rock stacks that rise above the Atlantic waves. Lastly, you will come to the smashing Skógafoss waterfall, a pathway with 527 steps leads up the side of the waterfall, where you will get a view of the falls and the rainbows that appear on clear days.

Iceland is a volcano country and on a clear day, you will get views of Eyjafjallajökull, Hekla and even the volcanoes around the Westman Islands, just off the coast.  You will be dropped off at your original pick-up location in Reykjavík around 7:00 PM. You will have time to get some dinner and then be picked up again from your original point for the northern lights tour.

From the capital, you will hunt for the jewel-bright colors of the Northern Lights in the countryside — Green, yellow, white, and sometimes purple northern lights are usually seen. Northern Lights can never be promised but your guide will do their very best.

This tour is far more superior than the golden circle in my opinion! The schedule is so efficiently organised to make the most out of the few ours of daylight in winter. The driver guide was precise but also flexible, we saw so much in one day that looking back in the pictures it felt like a week worth of activities! The glacier hike is fantastic, and don't stress too much about bringing heavy boots, because they need a specific type to mount the spikes anyway, they will check your boots but you can rent directly on spot from them for 7 dollars. We ended up spending a little longer on ice and came back to Reykjavík one hour later than planned so only had few minutes time before the second tour bus for Northern lights (good thing I read other comments and brought a extra packed meal), for which we were lucky and had a viewing of a lifetime. So worth it!

This was the first excursion we did after getting to Iceland. It was fabulous! We had Gisli as our guide and he was honestly brilliant! He picked us up and was with us for most of the day. He has so much knowledge which he happily shares with you as he's driving you along and he's so funny. The first stop is at one of the beautiful waterfalls, then onto the black sand beach. There's a little cafe there to have some lunch before going to the glacier. Hiking on the glacier was one of my favourite parts of our whole trip. Its absolutely breathtaking! The guides are fabulous, so friendly and patient. I really can't recommend this enough! On the way back you stop off at another beautiful waterfall and get a chance to have a hot drink. The Northern lights part of our day was cancelled as it was very cloudy but you get to rebook it again anyway. This was such a fantastic tour, you should definitely include it in your trip! Thank you so much to everyone!

This tour was fantastic! I was travelling with my 18 year old daughter and 14 year old twins and they all loved it. It was interesting enough for them and the glacier hiking was something to remember. The guide on the mini bus was great and stopped twice on the way back to see the northern lights which were making an unusually early appearance. We only had a very short time (45 minutes) between being dropped back in Reykjavik and being picked up again for the northern lights tour so bear in mind you’ll need somewhere in mind to grab something to eat quickly. The northern lights came out again for us in the evening, the highlight of the trip for me :) I’d definitely recommend this trip to anyone
