Full description
You will set off from Reykjavík towards Icelandic highlands above Húsafell in West Iceland in the early morning for a glacier experience like no other. This tour includes a snowmobile ride up the vast snowy terrain of the second largest glacier in Iceland followed by a walk through the magnificent man-made ice cave. From the glacier base camp at Jaki you will start your tour of the Langjökull Glacier Ice Cap. You will begin with putting on the necessary clothing and getting our helmets fitted, you will then listen to the safety briefing from our guide before you head out on your snowmobile tour. Then you will be ready to drive off across the glaciers vast snowy wonderland and marvel at the incredible surroundings. You will actually drive your snowmobiles to the famous ice cave! After riding the snowmobiles up the glacier you will walk down into the glacier. Your expert guide will take you on this fantastic journey to the icy netherworld deep within the glacier. Until very recently what lies beneath the surface of Langjökull was a mystery. But sometimes bold ideas become a reality and this seemingly impossible feat of creating a 500-meter long ice cave was made possible through the combined efforts of the country's top engineers and geo-physicists. Inside the glacier, the temperature is usually around zero degrees Celsius or 32 Fahrenheit. After snowmobiling and exploring the Ice Cave you make your way back down to civilization, or to the small village of Húsafell.

The shuttle picked us up from the meeting point on time and dropped us off at the terminal. Our guide was waiting for us. He gave us a tablet to be able to follow the explanations. The ride is cool with beautiful scenery! When you reach the bottom of the glacier, they provide you with the necessary snowmobile equipment. A large vehicle picks you up to take you to the top of the glacier. The cave is nice and the snowmobile tour breathtaking. In the afternoon we went to see the waterfalls, it was too beautiful! The guides are all cool really a good excursion !!

The ice cave itself was amazing!it was trully unique and an experience you must have!but the snowmobile part of our tour got cancelled due to weather conditions, for which we were really looking forward to but it wasn't their fault. The only part i didn't enjoy was that in the same group we were people who did the ice cave tour, the lava cave tour and the combo,so we basically had to cover a couple of hours,in order to wait for the subgroup that did both to come and meet us and head back to reykjavik.I really enjoyed the tour, the driver and the guide were really informative and professionals but the agency could have separated the groups in order to head back sooner. All in all it was a great experience!

amazing tour of the glacier ice caves, not as cold as expected but still very slippery! trainers are fine to wear as you’re given boot covers which act as walking boots as well as keeping your shoes waterproof. snowmobile ride was really fun with breathtaking views, definitely a unique and unmissable experience. we had two places to stop off to buy lunch, both had good options as well as vegetarian food.
