Great tour. Would recommend even I think we could do it on our own as we had car. But we really enjoyed. The hike could be longer as it was only 2 hours all together not 4 as advertised. The driver and tour guide were friendly and even we stuck in the snow they had to put big effort to get the bus back on the road. They keep us safe and comfortable. Well done. Over all great communication and organisation.

All in all a very interesting trip. You have to know that the program has changed a bit since the volcano went out. After a short stay in the Geopark, which feels like another world, we went to the lava field, which unfortunately is no longer glowing, but is still steaming. It was up to everyone to dare the ascent (which is difficult) to take a look at the extinct crater or to linger at the lava field. Altogether enough was planned for both. Then we went to a fishing village for a lunch break. A packed lunch is therefore not necessary. What was not mentioned in the excursion description was a visit to the bridge between the continents, a hot spring and the coast. Tip: it is also possible to combine this excursion with a visit to the blue lagoon.

I think the description is a bit misleading on this tour. You don’t do one hike that’s 1.5-2 hrs each way. Instead, the guide stops at multiple places where you can choose how far you’d like to walk. He gave a time to be back to the bus so we could all be responsible for how far we were going. I was happy with how this tour ended up because we got to see more stops than were even listed in the description. You will not see red lava like in the photos, it will be black/inactive and from year(s) ago. It was really nice to not have a paced hike or walk, and instead manage the level of activity you felt comfortable with on each stop.
