We booked the hike while the volcano was still active and it was no longer active by the time we took it. While we were disappointed not to have the "active" view (it may be worth re-wording the description/title of the hike), it was still worth it. As expected, the hike was long and definitely involved a fair amount of of elevation change and switchbacks so hikers should be prepared for this level of exertion. What we were unprepared for was the extreme winds and the hailstorm that hit while we were hiking! It was WILD! Makes for a better story... but definitely challenging in more ways than one!

Excursion in very large numbers. 2 stages: a place where there were a few small eruptions of vapors (and therefore odors…) + the hike near the volcano. The volcano was not active the day we visited so we did not see a volcanic eruption. Regarding the hike, the guides left us 3 hours there but the wind was so cold that we all got back to the bus earlier. Result, the excursion was supposed to be from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm but we left late. and returned 1 hour early.

A very nice hike to the top allowing a breathtaking view of the crater of the volcano. The hike is well worth the intermediate level and hiking boots are not too much! The return trip was breathtaking with unusual and unforgettable landscapes. Thank you for the feedback that made our ride alive. We recommend this experience!
