Learn the story of Iceland from a different perspective on a fun walking tour that swaps historical facts for entertaining tales about elves, trolls and ghosts. Delve into the dark tale of Iceland's only known serial killer in a land where it's easy to get lost in the lava fields. Visit 2 of the oldest graveyards and the magical Tjörnin Pond. You will experience the storytelling traditions of Iceland, when people gather to narrate the sort of myths that influenced J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The tour runs every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday in the summer and is perfect for those who want a little adventure. If you’re looking for something different to do in Iceland and would like to go off the beaten track, we really recommend this mythical walk. Snædís was our host and she really brought the stories to life and made the tour fun. This is not only a great way to hear some stories past down for many generations, but an interesting look into the Icelandic way of thinking and how the stories affect current day practices. After all, Icelanders are famous for their story telling ever since the Viking times.

Very interesting myths and beliefs of the Icelandic culture. We had a very small group made by a lovely American family of four and my fiancé and I: this made it very personal as we were interacting with our guide Stefan a lot, it wasn’t only a lesson to listen to. We had a lovely walk around parts of the city that you may not see otherwise and listened to stories that you won’t find anywhere else. Just cover yourself with warm clothes so you won’t freeze like I did

    Exceptional for all ages!

We were a bit worried that this may be geared more for children since we are both in our late 20s but we had a blast! I highly Recommend this tour. Not only will you get to learn some of the beliefs of Iceland, but you’ll get to walk around some areas you might not have seen and get lots of pictures. Stefan is probably the best guide I’ve had on any tour. He was very knowledgeable but hilarious as well. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and recommend this for adults and children alike.
