On this tour you will get the chance to experience genuine Icelandic culture and age-old customs surrounding the New Year's Eve celebrations, which are considered to be one of the world's most breathtaking New Year's celebrations. Thousands of people attend community bonfires scattered throughout the different neighborhoods of Reykjavik and at precisely midnight the celebratory atmosphere becomes pretty wild with incredible amounts of fireworks that people light all over the city. Have the best viewpoint to watch the fireworks selected for you, while raising a glass of sparkling wine under one of the world's most spectacular fireworks displays.
One of Iceland’s oldest traditions is the practice of holding a bonfire on New Year’s Eve. Join in the festivities with this trip to the heart of Reykajavik, Iceland’s capital, for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to celebrate like the locals do. The bonfires unite neighbors, friends and strangers in celebration of the new year and the tour offers a glimpse into traditional Icelandic culture. Music and fireworks add to the holiday spirit, creating memories you won’t soon forget. Since the bonfire is outdoors, take care to dress warmly.
Fireworks are legal in Iceland and the locals make good use of this! After attending a community bonfire, locals warm up with food and drinks. The atmosphere intensifies at midnight as thousands of families gather in the streets, each making their own fireworks display. Tons of fireworks light up the sky in a massive display with unending explosions of color! This New Year's tour provides you with the opportunity to watch it all go down - or up! You can choose to be picked up at your hotel or you can join the tour company at their office. You will then travel to a favorable viewpoint, where the group will make a celebratory toast with a glass of sparkling wine while enjoying this magnificent event. Please remember to dress very warmly as we will be standing outside to watch the show!

Fireworks amazing the folks of Reykjavik certainly know how to burn money! Never seen so many fireworks for such a sustained period of time a good 45 Mins where ever the eye could see explosions. The Grayling Travel guys fun and mildly entertaining but really two bottles of warm Cava for 50 passengers a slightly embarrassing after . Iceland is a very dry country anyway no alcohol in supermarkets only government-run outlets. It does sell alcohol in restaurants etc but Tres expensive. So if you are planning a dry January a great place to start you off slowing up (unless you too have money to burn!). Fab place for experience all very "Fortitude " scenery wise and lovely people. Winter 3 hours of Daylight!
In conclusion, I could not participate in the tour. The reason was that there was a discrepancy between the description of the departure place at the time of booking and the meeting place specified by the tour company, and we could not get on the pickup bus. So, if you do not hear from the tour company about the meeting place after booking, you will need to contact yourself. In addition, the bus stop of the tour company pickup is as follows. Reykjavik City bus pick-up and drop-off places https://busstop.is/ Unfortunately, I wanted to participate in the tour and watch the countdown fireworks, but fortunately I was able to see fireworks from downtown Reykjavik, did.
Although I was surprised to discover that the viewpoint was literally a two minutes drive from my hotel after having already driven into the city Centre for their main office pick up location... The evening was by far worth the journey. Never before have I seen a fireworks display like that of Icelands and I'll be sure to spread the word. The tour guide and bus driver were funny and spoke perfect English! Thanks again!
