Full description
Originally built in 1891, the ‘Gamla Laugin’  is Iceland’s first swimming pool. Spend time in this relaxing setting feeling your worries slip away. A natural hot spring feeds the lagoon with 38-39°C water  that bubbles up from deep within the earth at a rate of 10 litres per second, constantly replenishing itself so that there is a steady supply of fresh clean water in the pool at any given time, letting you rest as long as you need.  Enjoy brand new facilities at the Secret Lagoon including changing rooms, showers, resting rooms, bar and restaurant area.  Situated in a remote location in Fluðir, the Secret Lagoon is just an hour away from Geysir, 1 hour and 20 minutes from Reykjavik and 2 hours from Vik making it a great desination on your trip to Iceland.

We only endured 40 minutes in the 40 degree hot water. One totally underestimates how exhausting such temperatures are over a longer period of time, especially for children. But ok for the price. The changing rooms are rather spartan, but the pool is quite large. Every 10 minutes a small geyser spits next to the pool. It is best to bring towels with you.

It was no problem to get in even though we had booked two hours later. In addition, it included a sausage (very good) with bread. Here is a high bath morale. You take off your shoes and go on a warm clean dry floor. Shower first and then you step into a warm bath without salt without mud. A magical place close to nature and very nice staff. Worth the long journey from Reykjavik.

Book in advance, just say your name on site and off you go, take off your shoes, undress, shower without clothes, put on your swimming trunks and relax and enjoy the warm water. The pool is beautiful, the water clear and warm. Around the pool are the hot springs. On a circuit you can walk past all the springs again at the end.
