Full description
Experience Iceland’s second-largest glacier from the inside and enjoy the rare sight of blue ice at the heart of an ice cap glacier on this half-day tour.  All tours depart from Húsafell, from where you will catch a shuttle to the Glacier Base Camp, Klaki. You will meet a professional guide and gear up in warm overalls if needed, before boarding a specially-modified glacier truck for the drive up to the cave entrance. Arriving at the cave entrance, head inside the glacier with your guide. The man-made Langjökull Glacier Tunnel is a wonder to behold. The ice is lit up from behind by glowing hues, allowing you to see the layers that have formed over many years. Your guide will walk with you through the glacier's corridors where you will have a chance to learn about geology, the history of glaciers, how they are formed and how they move.

It is totally advisable to carry out this activity since it is the largest man-made ice cave in the world. That without forgetting that the cave is in a glacier and that when you see it from inside you can see many details accompanied by the explanations of the guide. To get to the glacier there is a meeting point and the journey is made by bus and then a kind of truck that transports you to the glacier (these two transports are included in the price of the activity). It is advisable to bring complete waterproof clothing, although if you do not have any, they will leave you there (even very practical waterproof shoe covers).

When you arrive at husafell activity center they are not very helpful, but go outside to the left and you will see the bus. The bus ride takes you on a dirt road to base camp. At base camp you will board a special vehicle and go up on the glacier. The ICE cave was great we enjoyed it very much.

Very interesting and educational tour. Along the way to the ice cave, our onboard host, Christine, gave a lot of information about area and glaciers. Our guide inside the ice cave, Adrian, was very knowledgeable and funny. He explained the structures inside the cave, how the cave was formed, how deep underground the cave is and a lot more. Highly recommended tour.
