  • Skaftafell National Park: 3-Hour Glacier Hike

    1. Skaftafell National Park: 3-Hour Glacier Hike

Discover what it feels like to walk on impacted ice on an amazing hike across tan outlet glacier of Vatnajökull, Europe's largest glacier. Get breathtaking views of the ice-covered peaks of Skaftafell National Park in the epic wilderness of Iceland. Meet your guide at the Skaftafell visitor center to pick-up your crampons, ice axes, harnesses and helmets. Then, drive by bus to the start of your hike and put on your crampons and steel frames tied to your hiking boots for the amazing adventure ahead. Spend around 60 to 90 minutes on the ice to see crevasses and deep cracks on the surface. Learn about the vertical shafts known as moulins, formed when melting water finds its way into the fissures and cracks. Look into small ice tunnels and capture the beautiful blue heart of the ice in the winter. Learn the history of the glacier from your English-speaking guide.

Highly recommend this glacier hiking tour! Erica, our tour guide, was super knowledgeable and wonderful ! Even though it was rainy and cloudy when the hike started, the sun came out halfway through and we saw the most incredible up-close views of the glacier and surrounding valleys. Unforgettable!

  • Snaefellsnes Peninsula Full-Day Trip

    2. Snaefellsnes Peninsula Full-Day Trip

During this full-day (10-hour) excursion from Reykjavik you’ll travel along the Snæfellsnes peninsula and through the Snæfellsjökull National Park. Stop to enjoy the small village of Arnarstapi and take a walk through the rugged and dramatic landscape by the shore. Visit the the gorgeous black pebble beach of Djúpalónssandur, see the rock formations and hear stories about famous shipwrecks off the coast. Enjoy the view of the world famous triangular mountain Kirkjufell, which was used to depict the Arrowhead Mountain in the series Game of Thrones.  With some additional stops along the route you’ll get a good overall sense of the magical influence of the Snæfellsjökull glacier.

I gave 4 stars because of waiting for 30 minutes for picking up. I should be there at 7:30, the tour starts at 8 and bus arrived on time. However, the guide was excellent and he explained us everything and showed lots of things.

  • Full-Day Iceland Game of Thrones Tour

    3. Full-Day Iceland Game of Thrones Tour

Take in Iceland's breathtaking scenery, used as filming locations in the gripping television series "Game of Thrones." Experience the dramatic gorge at Þingvellir — the stomping ground of White Walkers and "north of the Wall." Soak up the raw, dramatic atmosphere surrounded by magnificent nature at Þingvellir and learn the significance of the setting to the show's plot. Explore Þjorsárdalur and the "Settlement Era Viking Lodge," the filming location where a whole village was massacred. Visit Þórufoss waterfall, and put yourself in the footsteps of the young boy who witnessed Drogon attacking the goats he was looking after. Meet special characters from the series and get up close to some of the Icelandic horses that starred in the series on your way back to Reykjavík city.

We had a female guide who was quite knowledgeable and entertaining. Her tips on how to pet the Icelandic horses made the visit to the horse farm both safe and endearing. She helped give perspective on the Game Of Thrones filming locations by showing stills of the scenes corresponding to the locations where the dragon ate the goat, the Hound brought Arya to the Vale, Ygritte and the wildlings leveled a grassy village, and Brienne battled the Hound. There was enough time left over also for us to visit a bonus waterfall and drink from it too! Great GoT tour if you have an ear to deflect a lot of 4-letter words, and can decipher the guide’s narratives while the bus driver is talking to the CB radio in Icelandic.
