Full description

Embark on a bus tour of Iceland’s legendary Golden Circle and soak in the thermal waters of the Secret Lagoon. Explore the southwest, including the spectacular Geysir area, Gullfoss Waterfall, Kerið Volcano, and Þingvellir National Park.

After pickup in central Reykjavik, the day's first stop is at the Kerið Volcanic Crater. Here you can circle the crater top along a winding path and descend into the crater to reach the lake at its center.

Next, head to the Secret Lagoon where you'll have 1.5 hours to unwind in the thermal waters and admire the peaceful surroundings.

Continue to the active hot spring of Strokkur and watch it spout steaming water 30 meters every 8 minutes. Arrive at Gullfoss Waterfall and feel the spray of the glacial Hvítá River as it plummets down into a 32-meter-deep crevice.

Next, visit Þingvellir National Park, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are pulling apart at a rate of a few centimeters every year. Þingvellir was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004.

Unfortunately, the weather on the day of our trip was really bad (pouring rain). Despite this, the locations were very lovely and picturesque. Our guide was a newbie (her first Golden circle tour) and even though she was very lovely and nice person, sometimes she got distracted and confused. I wish we learnt a little bit more about the places we visited. However since she learnt in the morning she is doing the tour, it was good. We've heard lots of fairytale stories about elfs, but I would have prefered facts, history, earth science info, cultural info etc. Overall I enjoyed the trip and hope to come back to Iceland one day.

My wife and I enjoyed this trip immensely. I did have on quibble with accomodations. The details we received in advance of the tour were frustratingly incomplete. We were told we'd need bathing suits and towels for our swim in the Secret Lagoon, but that's all we knew before arriving there. We had no idea if there'd be any changing facilities, bathrooms, or showers available, As it happens, the Secret Lagoon offered all that and more, so we ended up getting more than we expected. That's a good problem to have, but it would have been helpful to have more information about what to expect. We also had no idea what our food options would be. We ended up having lunch at a very nice cafeteria at Geysir Hot Springs, but since we didn't know that was going to be an option, we packed our own lunch. I would have preferred not to have spent time on what turned out to be an unnecessary preparation. Still, it was a great trip!

Very well organized, pick up without problems and on time, all places visited according to the agenda. In spite that it was very reiny day that day, our guide Roberta made the day and trip fun, interesting and full of joy! Thank You and see you next time on the next trip! Dorota
