  • Reykjavik: 1.5-Hour Puffin Watching Tour

    4. Reykjavik: 1.5-Hour Puffin Watching Tour

The charismatic puffin has attracted local and tourist attention around Iceland for many years. It is their prismatic appearance and curious behavior that gives rise to this intrigue. Their most obvious characteristic during the breeding season is their brightly colored bill which, added to their striking piebald plumage, has given rise to nicknames such as “clown of the ocean” or “sea parrot.” Depending on tides and weather conditions, you will head to Akurey, Engey or Lundey on a 1.5-hour cruise. These islands are well known for their plentiful birdlife, and in addition to puffins you will have the opportunity to view other birds, such as eider ducks, arctic terns, guillemots, cormorants, fulmars, geese and oystercatchers. The islands' shores are rocky, but the captains know the best spots to get close to the puffins in their natural habitat. If the weather is right he might even tur...

It was nice to see puffins. They were quite beautiful. There was some issue with the boat and they took us to a different dock to board the boat. One of the reasons I booked this tour was the extra 30 min allocated in this tour compared to the other ones which seemed to last 1 hour. The extra 30 min was however not there due to issue with the boat. As such the crew was awesome and tour guide even took professional photographs of Puffins and shared them on request. It is extremely difficult to capture them as they are so small and move fast. You need a professional camera to take a nice picture.

We actually saw whales, even if only briefly, and dolphins also made themselves felt. Sure, there can be no guarantee, but the weather was fine, the sea was calm and we had fun.

Nice guide, lots of information, great weather and lots of whale spottings! You even get thermo-suits for free! Really amazing!

Well worth it. Be kind to one and all, Everything will be OK.

It was just perfect to see tons and tons of puffins.
