Full description
Start the hike in the heart of the village of Cilaos and head into the forest. Admire the magnificent view of the village of l'îlet à Cordes and the canyon dug by the Bras Rouge River. Cross the river several times with one section meaning you might need to get your feet wet.  Follow the path as it heads towards the heart of an ancient volcanic chamber. Learn about the geology and primitive volcanic activity of the island. Finally, arrive at an impressive monolith that stretches 100 m into the sky, reminiscent of a chapel.
