Got the tickets three days before the trip. Got email afterwards with the bus and ferry tickets and pick up point and time from the hotel. Bus was on time and I could just show the ticket from my phone (didn’t need to print it). In Rethymnon harbor I had no idea what do to. Just got on line with others and suddenly I had my ferry tickets to Santorini and back with me. The ticket showed the bus number I was going to go in Santorini. Lot of waiting and standing in que but on the ship everything went smoothly. I had no idea what was going to happen in Santorini but I found out in ferry. Was a little bit disappointed that it was so little time in Santorini because I wanted to walk on top of the volcano but didn’t have time for it. 1,5hours in crowded Oia was enough. Got the beautiful pictures. 1 hour in Fira was too little because I had to spend all the time to get something to eat. The last part was optional: more time in Fira, visit Perissa beach or take a short boat trip near volcano.
Really pretty the Oia town and the views in Fira but in Oia just time for made a couples of pictures and does it..., only a hour and 20 min in Oia, in fira around 2 hours and 50 min, where is pretty views..., so I think that was good but they are running much in Oia, that is the more pretty ..., some people can go to volcano and for the beach but I think the best option is stay in Fira and see the views and for shopping better in Creta the same souvenirs and much cheaper... For the volcano is plus 16€ but I think is so stressful because is all the time running so much..., and if you decide to go to the beach you will be there 50 min only..., because at 15:00 people is going for the volcano or beach and the rest stay in Fira and at 16:00 the bus is going to the port... I enjoyed this and I liked it, is really pretty,I think is a good plan if you have time and you stay in Creta but is everything so fast ...
This trip was very well organised. Departure was sharp on time and the allocated tour guide was easily identified in Santorini. The sea jet had allocated seats and all went smoothly. The awesome views in Fira and Oia Santorini were worth the long trip. The only concern was the drive from the port to the Santorini cities: a narrow road with very sharp turns in the mountain and busy traffic. Big tourist busses travel both way on a one way road. Some of the busses have to stop and give way to the ones coming from the opposite direction. Drivers have great skill and courage still it's a safety hazard with a sharp 500 m down drop.
We booked this for our guests that flew to Rethymno just for our wedding. For the 7 of us we booked the 11 wine tasting and finger foods. The wine, the wine expert and the finger foods were fantastic. The only downside was us having hangovers from our wedding the day before. We went to House Of Wine on 5th October. We would definitely return. Highly recommended. But be warned you have a glass of wine each tasting not a shot then spit it out!!
In this day trip there is a lot of energy consuming but worth it.you get to see everything that you would want in Santorini, although is a very long day it has its rewards, wonderful weather in mid July but very crowded from the beginning of the trip till the end. The ferry runs smoothly and the tour guide were helpful.
