Full description

Visit Doubtful Sound on a full-day trip from Queenstown. Board a luxury bus and travel along the shores of Lake Wakatipu, through the rolling countryside to Manapouri. Enjoy informative commentary along the way from your driver.

From Manapouri, cruise across the crystal waters of Lake Manapouri to West Arm. Then board a coach to cross the alpine route of the Wilmot Pass, through some of Fiordland National Park’s most dense rainforest.

On reaching Deep Cove, climb aboard a modern catamaran for a 2.75-hour cruise, exploring the waterways of this serene and isolated fiord. See waterfalls, rainforests, mountains, and wildlife. Your knowledgeable nature guides will provide you with engaging and informative commentary throughout.

You'll be treated to the sound of silence when the vessel’s engines are turned off. Experience floating on the fiord, with only the rush of waterfalls and birdsong to break the silence.

Bring your own lunch, or purchase snacks on board in the vessel’s cafes. If you would like to preorder a picnic lunch, feel free to contact the activity provider directly after booking.

When it rains in Fiordland, the landscape is especially dramatic. The scenery is spectacular, and you will stay dry and comfortable from your vantage point on the catamaran.

At the end of your cruise, return over Wilmot Pass by coach and cruise across Lake Manapouri before the bus journey back to Queenstown.

Doubtful Sound is very beautiful, stunning scenery and our trip was fortunate to see dolphins and seals and lots of bird life. From Queenstown it was a very long 13 hr day on buses and by boat. I enjoyed the journey from the Manapouri Power station and on the Sound but the boat across Manapouri lake felt too crowded with the number of people booked on the trip. The downside was the commentary on Doubtful Sound boat wasn't clear so I missed some of the detail about the Sound. The commentary on the bus from Queenstown to Te Anau was very infoemative and clear and the driver was helpful.

Breathtaking views. Well organised. On time. Only minor improvement would be that the website void give more of an accurate itinerary for the day & update the food options. We were able to buy food/drinks on the boat when cruising in Doubtful Sound and they took card (website said cash only)

The organisation was very well done. Everything went smoothly and all the staff from driver , Craig, to reception and bus drivers and ferry staff were all very friendly, helpful and professional. The tour itself was fantastic and i recommend it to anybody who wants to see the beauty of nature. The tour was absolutely value for money. We enjoyed it very much and it will be the highlight of our holiday.
