I've wanted to go for years (Irish ancestors) but with 5 kids, the ferry is really expensive ($50 for each of us!) So when the older 4 went to visit their grandparents, we took advantage and finally visited Grosse Ile. Although I find the ferry cost prohibitive for families, the service was very good. On the island, we were one of the only English speaking groups so we pretty much had a private tour. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly (especially Philippe on the trolley). It's a beautiful place and we really enjoyed learning about its history.
What a wonderful and informative day. The guides are very knowledgeable and very friendly. We took the English tour and we were very pleased with the personnel who took turns guiding us around the site. It is a must see for history buffs. I wish that the gift shop had more options such as a hoodie that they sell over in Bethier Sur Mer. Unfortunately when we got back on the ferrry the gift shop was closed so we can back empty handed.
This was amazing! Such a great way to get the history of this great city. I would highly recommend
my family and I had such a fun day.. the staff was excellent. we learned so much in a dun way...
