    6. From Hoi An: Market Tour, Basket Boat Ride and Cooking Class

Following pick-up from your hotel, visit a morning market in Hoi An and marvel at the seasonal fruits, noodles, herbs, vegetables, meat and fish on display. Interact with the vendors and get some tips on how to bargain.  Cruise down the Thu Bon River and get up close to the traditional fishing nets and boats. Then, paddle through the water coconut palms aboard a bamboo basket boat. Learn how to fish with a fishing net, listen to some folk songs and receive some handmade souvenirs made from coconut leaves. Learn how to cook Vietnamese food, such as spring rolls, papaya salad and pork in clay pots as you prepare your own lunch or dinner.

Spring was a great guide with fantastic clear English. It was a little difficult to hear what was being said around the market because of the bustle and size of the group. My daughter (11) and I had a great day. To travel to the course by boat was nice and the bamboo boats were a fun thing to do with my daughter. We caught 7 crabs! The cooking course was hands on which was brilliant. I liked that you ate each course as it was cooked rather than everything at the end. An enjoyable day and highly recommend.

This was a very nice cooking class. We really liked that we bought all of the ingredients together at the local market. Then we took the bicycle to a local farm where we could see how they cultivate different herbs. Now we finally know how Asian basil smells and tastes like. We were always wondering what this is in the summer rolls we don’t know. :) The cooking lesson itself was really good. Our chef was strict with us but we appreciated it. Sometimes we felt like we were a little bit in a hurry. The chef could slow down just a little bit. Lunch was amazing- a cute little table by the river. Very idyllic. A big plus was the massage - just a very good idea to make time pass by more quickly while the chef prepared everything for the cooking class.
