Full description
Embark on a full-day tour to the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx, Memphis and Sakkara. Start your tour by visiting the Great Pyramids - Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinos. The highlight of this section is getting close up to the Sphinx - the legendary guardian with a lion’s body and the head of King Chephren. Admire the impressive statue and get your photo taken beside it. You will then visit Sakkara, a 27 km journey away from Cairo. The highlight of this section is the Step Pyramid. When we booked our tour we asked to change the orders the visits which was readily accommodated by Emo Tours. Essam, our friendly and knowledgeable guide for the day spoke very good English. Essam told us the history of the pyramids in an interesting way and was able to to answer our questions well. I would highly recommend him. The tour itself was really interesting and enjoyable. We were glad we had reversed the tour as we then started from the earliest pyramids and moved on to the older constructions.I would recommend this tour to fully understand the history and construction of the pyramids.

Pros: female tour guide available, clean car, good driver, delicious lunch, guide made an effort to take lots of pictures of me. Cons: like most things in Egypt people are always trying to squeeze you for more money. Tour guide was pushy on trying to get me to go to papyrus and perfume store (say no to both as they are just tourist traps). My tour guide also assumed I wanted a tour guide on going inside the saqqara pyramid when I never asked for one. Of course, the guide expects a tip. My tour guide also took me to these ladies making bread, who of course also expected a tip. I was never asked whether I wanted to be brought to these places and they were not part of the itinerary.

Sayd and the driver (can’t remember his name unfortunately) were incredible. Sayd is very knowledgeable and accommodating and has a great attitude. He took pictures of me as I was traveling alone and he’s overall an amazing guide. I definitely recommend him for the tour. I just wish I wasn’t taken to so many “tourist trap” shops, for some people that’s interesting but it should be something optional as not everyone enjoys these practices. The camel ride wasn’t that great either as the camel was very tired and looked very thin (I know well enough about camels to know this). This of course is on the hands of the camel owner but the company should choose providers that look well after their animals in this day and age. The ride made me feel extremely uncomfortable. All in all, the tour is worth it for all the things that you see and for hearing Sayd’s knowledge on Egyptian history.
