  • Cairo: Pyramids, Memphis, and Sakkara Private Day Tour

    1. Cairo: Pyramids, Memphis, and Sakkara Private Day Tour

Start your day trip to the Great Pyramids, Memphis, and Sakkara, with an 08:00 pick-up at your hotel. Your guide will take you to the Giza Plateau where you will see the famous Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus. Next, see the Great Sphinx statue and visit the Valley Temple, which is a part of the same ancient complex. Marvel at the ancient structure as you learn about the burial rites of the Pharaoh kings. The next stop on your day tour is the Step Pyramid of King Djoser, at the fascinating Sakkara archeological site. Built in the 3rd Dynasty (around 2630 B.C.E.), this special pyramid is the world's oldest major stone structure. From the Step Pyramids transfer to Memphis, the former capital city of ancient Egypt during the Old Kingdom. Having once reigned as a cultural center for over 3,000 years, Memphis offers stunning ancient sites and intrigue.

My 10 year old son and I had a great day visiting the Giza pyramids, Sakkara and Memphis. Our guide was very knowledgeable about Egyptian history and archaeology - and he could answer all my many questions about the sites we visited, how to read the hieroglyphs, how to build a pyramid etc.

  • Cairo: Djoser, Bent Pyramid & Memphis Day Trip

    2. Cairo: Djoser, Bent Pyramid & Memphis Day Trip

Begin by visiting Sakkara and the Step Pyramid of Djoser, which dates back to 2600 BC under the 3rd Dynasty. It is considered the oldest stone structure and it was built for king Djoser. Proceed to visit Memphis, which was the first capital city of Old Egypt, and see the Statue of Ramses II at Memphis. On your way to the south you will visit the Red Pyramid and the Bent Pyramid of Dahshur. Travel in comfort back to your hotel. Cairo has so much to see, feel, eat and buy, so if you have time and want to add more to your itinerary, let the local operator know if there is anything you would like to add to your itinerary.

A lot to see in a say but very do-able. Starting in Memphis with some time to meander around pieces and parts and then to Dashur for the Red and Bent Pyramids. Enter both and take a good look. Finally to Saqqara for Step Pyramid and surrounding structures. Also worth a look inside. Our guide was Michael and very informative. He moves fast for old folks but he’s great with questions. Farouk was driver and maneuvered around with ease. A great day and a good value. We finished early and ended up at both essence shop and papyrus shop but really no pressure at either place and I’m sure these add ons could be politely declined. A great educational day.

We had a most enjoyable time on this tour. Our guide, Mena was excellent. He happily imparted his knowledge in a humorous and informative way, and answering our questions. We had ample time to stroll around the various locations, accompanied by Mena to point out the things of note. My one criticism would be lack of air conditioning in our transportation, as promised.

Great guide named Amir and a great driver Faruk who drove us through the busy chaos traffic of Cairo Gizes. Amir gave us time and proudly told how the Pyramids were created with all his heart and skill. Everything was super.

A beautiful experience, especially thanks to our guide Magdy, who spoke Italian very well and made us passionate about Egyptian history! I highly recommend!
