Samaná is a peninsula located on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic. Each year between the months of February and March over 3,500 humpback whales mate in the warm coastal waters just off of the coast of the peninsula. Your tour begins with a boat trip from Miches to the Bay of Samaná, accompanied by a beautiful view. After arriving to your location, you will embark on a horseback trek to the majestic 50-meter high Lemon waterfall, which contains a beautiful natural pool below and is surrounded by lush tropical forest. Following your waterfall tour, you will head on a city tour atop a safari truck through the city of Samaná. Discovered by the navigator Christopher Columbus in 1493, this was the point in which the first hostile meeting between Europeans and natives occurred. Following your city tour, you will sit down for a Dominican buffet lunch in a field restaurant, where you can indulge in a tasting of tropical fruits harvested in the area. After lunch, you will be taken in the safari truck back to the dock, after which you will head to Cayo Levantado or "Bacardi Island". After arriving at this 1-kilometer long island, you can enjoy some refreshing free time on its beautiful beaches complete with clear turquoise water. After this free time, you will be ferried back to the mainland before being dropped off back at your accommodation.

After hotel pick-up from your Punta Cana or Bavaro hotel, arrive at the marina. Be welcomed aboard "Paradise" by the team with tropical refreshments. Your PADI-certified dive team will give health and safety procedures and a snorkeling briefing to ensure your experience is unforgettable but safe. Leave the marina and head for the east side of Catalina Island to the snorkel site "The Wall," catering to both novice and expert snorkelers. Life jackets are available here. During the journey, enjoy light refreshments and music. After approximately 30 minutes, arrive at the snorkel site and enjoy just under an hour of snorkeling. Expect clear turquoise waters, incredible visibility, and an amazing underwater ecosystem. After snorkeling, board the boat and head to the west side. On arrival, head to a private beach. There is a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments available. Snorkeling equipment is available at the bar so you can enjoy the snorkel sites near the beach. Lunch will be served at around 13:00. The Dominican feast will be prepared by a renowned local chef. Enjoy fresh lobster caught that morning (VIP package only), pork, chicken, salads, pasta, and local fruits. After lunch, the rest of the afternoon is free. Start with pickup and drive to Bayahibe, the starting point of the excursion, where you will embark on the fast boat to Cotubanama National Park A short stop in front of the Penon where an English-speaking guide will give you explanations about this cliff and the Taino natives, the first inhabitants of the island. You will also make a stop at the mangroves, which are trees growing directly in the seawater. First stop on the island of Saona, at the beach of Canto de la playa where you will spend 2h30 on this magic white sand beach surrounded by coconut trees. There you will have time to relax or to snorkel. Hop back on the fast boat to go to the village of Mano Juan for a Dominican lunch. Once done with lunch, let's take a cap and sun cream to visit the village of Mano Juan with your guide and get a glimpse of the local life (wooden house, anecdotes, local shops, national sports). Visit the typical turtle nursery, a project maintained by a local family. With the means at hand, they take care of the incubation of the eggs during the laying period and the release of the baby turtles into the sea. It is not 100% guaranteed to see hatchlings, it will depend on the season and the hatching cycle. Originally named "Adamanay" by the Taino Indians, the island was renamed by Christopher Columbus, during his second voyage to the Americas in 1494. Find a seat on the deck and enjoy the sun and water on the way to the idyllic island of Saona. Make a short 20-minute stop at a large natural swimming pool for a quick swim. Once you arrive, enjoy free time to explore the island at your own pace, making this tour a great choice for independent travelers. Begin your day early in the morning with pickup at your accommodation in Punta Cana/Bávaro, Uvero Alto or Bayahibe. Head over to Punta Cana Airport, then fly to Arroyo Barril Airport in Samana. We were picked up promptly from our resort by a very friendly driver. Once we arrived at the beach the Happy Fish guide greeted us and we were lead out to the catamaran. We set sail along the coastline and arrived at the snorkeling spot, there were 2 other boats there. We snorkeled for around 45 minutes and then got back in the boat. There were tons of cool fish! Next we went to a natural pool to swim and drink from a floating bar. They also provided paddle boards but I did not try it. Once we got back to shore we were allowed 10 minutes to shop in the flea market. Be warned: you will get hassled by the shop workers. They are not part of Happy Fish but it’s worth mentioning. All in all the trip was fantastic!

To me, there was a lot packed into this tour and it was very well executed.
