What people are saying about Province of Syracuse

We took the trip to Etna from Syracuse. Our guide Frederico was also our driver and he was excellent in navigating the steep roads on Etna. We chose to take the higher option, so did not do the guided walk of the excursion. You pay extra for this choice. We took the cable car up the volcano and then the 4 x 4 mini bus. There are a lot of people wandering about on Etna, but after 2,500 metres you can only go higher with an official guide. The views vary with incoming clouds and weather and it is much colder at that height, a coat is very advisable. We also had rain and after coming back down there was a thunderstorm, so weather can be very variable even in August. The visit to the lava cave was very interesting and informative. Also enjoyed the wine tasting visit, no hard selling of the products. Our guide was wonderful, answering any questions and making the excursion the best experience for us that he could. All in all it was very a very enjoyable trip.

Departure in a comfortable minivan from Syracuse (one of the only offers from this starting point!) Visit of the Silvestri crater of Etna in the morning (about 2 hours of hiking), very nice with beautiful viewpoints! Frederico is a guide who is passionate about what he does and he knows well the paths to navigate the area, the vegetation and the local geology which he is happy to talk about. The subsequent visit to the cave carved into the volcanic rock and the tasting of local products are a nice little extra! We had a great time, ideal for inexperienced hikers looking for a nice ride. The ad is true to what we got. Frederico will suggest without forcing the following options for the ascent once at the foot of the volcano: “Standard” visit: at no extra cost, the one we did; Ascension to the top by cable car + mountaineer guide: count 69€ more Ascension by bus: 30€ supplement

It was a great tour, Frederico was motivated and nice and told us a lot about Etna, life around Etna and much more. The cave tour and the tasting at the end were also a highlight and we also bought many products at the end because everything tasted so delicious. Absolute recommendation from us! We were back in Siracusa at 4.30pm and a total of 7 people took the tour which was also very enjoyable!

Excellent time and really enjoyed. Great guide who was very helpful and friendly

A breathtaking excursion with an exceptional guide
